Manchester United Want To Sign Porto Star With €100 Million Release Clause: Will The Deal Go Through?

Manchester United will be looking to strengthen their team and cover all bases in the summer after the disappointing season. They have suffered from inconsistency in goal-scoring due to the underperformance of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. So, they will be better helped if they can sign a striker who can go on to score consistent goals.

Caught Offside has meanwhile reported that United will try their best to land Samu Aghehowa in the transfer window. Ruben Amorim likes the player and has given the nod to the club to sign him. Porto finally managed to land him after a lot of clubs were interested in the striker last summer.

At Porto, he has been in sensational form this season. Aghehowa has scored 14 goals in 22 matches so far in the Liga NOS 2024/2025 season. Overall, his goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.73. Moreover, Aghehowa’s total G/A (goals + assists) is 17 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.88 per 90 minutes. The striker’s non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.61.

Manchester United Want Samu Aghehowa:

Samu Aghehowa is a striker who has got it all. At 20, the Porto star is a lanky 6’4” menace—strong, quick, and a nightmare in the air. He is a poacher with a knack for being in the right spot, banging in goals with either foot. Aghehowa’s hold-up play is brilliant, dragging defenders out of position and opening space for teammates. Cool under pressure, he has got that big-game spark—think of his brace against Manchester United. Not the flashiest dribbler, but the Porto man doesn’t need to be; his smarts and finishing do the talking. Young, hungry, and already a Spain international—Samu is a proper handful!

He is an important player for Porto and the Portugal club have just signed him. So, it is not likely that the club will be ready to sell him in the summer. If at all, they will point towards the €100 million release clause in his contract. Manchester United, already in financial struggles, might not have that amount to spend on the player in the summer. However, if the Red Devils manage to secure his signing, he will provide a lot of impetus in the attack to Ruben Amorim.
