The Portugese media have been reacting to Chelsea’s new £62m signing Geovany Quenda scoring for Sporting CP against Estrela Amadora.
Chelsea recently agreed a deal to sign Quenda from Sporting as they beat off competition from Manchester United to land the young winger.
The 17-year-old is very highly rated around Europe and the Blues agreeing to pay £62 million to secure his services proves that.
Quenda scored his second league goal of the season on Saturday as Sporting moved three points clear at the top of Liga Portugal, and the local media have been reacting.

Geovany Quenda’s goal against Estrela Amadora has been labelled as ‘pure class’ by the Portugese media, who were impressed by the teenager’s performance.
The new Chelsea youngster started on the left-hand side in the first 45 minutes before switching to the right, where he proved to be more dangerous and found the back of the net.

A Bola gave him 7/10 and wrote: “He started on the left, but it was on the right that he had two good initiatives, still in the first half.
“At half-time, he took Fresneda’s place at right wing and scored the second goal for Sporting with a touch of pure class after a delightful first touch.”
GoalPoint rated him 6.7/10: “The Sporting winger scored a great goal, his second in the League, created a clear chance, recorded one of the highest number of possession recoveries (7), but the one he wasted prevents him from achieving an even higher score.”
When is Geovany Quenda due to join Chelsea?
Quenda will join the West London club once he has turned 18 and it has been agreed that he will move in the summer of 2026.
Although Chelsea do have three exciting youngsters ready to become part of Enzo Maresca’s squad this summer with Estevao Willian, Andrey Santos and Dario Essugo.
Santos has been partially impressive in Ligue 1 and looks more than good enough to make an impact next season at Stamford Bridge.
