Report: Tottenham ready to return for ‘elite’ attacker who Ange Postecoglou has previously tried to sign

3 Min Read

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to return for an attacker who Ange Postecoglou attempted to bring to North London in January, but they instead moved for Mathys Tel.

Tottenham are yet to decide whether to sign Tel permanently, however, despite his slow start to life in the capital, the North London are happy with him.

Ange Postecoglou’s side looked at several attackers during the January window before eventually sorting out a deal to bring the 19-year-old to the club.

Now, one of the forwards who they attempted to do a deal for is back on their radar ahead of the summer and a move is being assessed.

Tottenham set to return for Jonathan David in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur are set to return for Lille striker Jonathan David in the summer, according to The i Paper.

The North London club’s move for the Canadian international could depend on who is the manager, however, he is a player who the club seem to like and who will be available on a free transfer.

Spurs were keen to sign David in January, however, they were unable to agree a deal with Lille for the 25-year-old.

But, if they do move for David, who has been called ‘elite’, they will likely face strong competition for his signature from Newcastle, Manchester United, Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan.

Jonathan David could be one of the deals of the summer

Whoever signs David in the summer transfer on a free transfer could be getting one of the best deals of the summer window.

Landing a striker who has 23 goals and ten assists this season for free would be superb business for whichever club wins the race.

David has a particularly impressive Champions League campaign as he netted nine times in 14 matches, including against Real Madrid, Ateltico Madrid, Juventus, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.
