Don’t let it be a sour ending. Please.

There are rumors that the current season will be the final one at Bayern Munich for Thomas Müller. Throughout the season both sides agreed that if the 35-year-old wants to keep playing, they’d extend him for another year. Müller, indeed, still wants to play, but no contract offer has been made…or even thought offer a report Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia):

Thomas Müller was a bit surprised that he didn’t receive a new contract offer. He would have expected the club to present him with something. Instead, there were neither figures discussed nor an offer. And yet, back in November, it was said they were happy to continue with him.

In addition, Max Eberl had confirmed in January that if Müller wanted to play for another year, an extension would be a matter of seconds. Müller would have liked to play for another year. That’s why this development is a bit strange for him. There’s still no final decision from the board. There will be another meeting with Müller and his management next week.

If he won’t stay at Bayern, the most likely destination is a move to the USA. There have been offers in the past. Müller will definitely not play for another club in the Bundesliga.

Müller deserves the best sendoff of any player for his loyalty and service to the club, and for him to be left hanging like this is just disheartening. The way things are, he might follow Marco Reus to the MLS.
