Although it has been widely reported that Andrea Berta has agreed to become Arsenal’s next Sporting Director, the Italian has since not been announced in the role.
And with March drawing to a close, the Gunners appear set to miss their own deadline for confirming who would be taking the job.
Given also the long list of issues to deal with in his inbox, there will be concerns about the impact further delays might have on the club’s summer plans.
Arsenal have been without a Sporting Director since Edu dramatically left the job in October, Jason Ayto was fulfilling the position on an interim basis, and was one of the candidates to take the job full-time, but was widely reported to have lost out to Berta, with some supporters making him a scapegoat for the Gunners lack of activity in the January transfer market.
That has meant that even more importance is attached to the summer, and the sooner beerta gets his feet under the table and starts working, the better.
