Viktor Gyokeres could finally be the man to solve Arsenal’s striker crisis if Andrea Berta manages to convince him to make a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Mikel Arteta is a fan of Gyokeres’ as the Sporting CP marksman fits his ideal mould of a number nine who can lead the line on his own and be a domineering presence up top.
Andrea Berta could spend £300 million at Arsenal in his first summer transfer window and it looks like the Swedish international has caught his eye.
Viktor Gyokeres is one of Europe’s most feared strikers, having elevated his status from being a talented goalscorer at Coventry City to a goalscoring machine at Sporting CP — a profile of player Arsenal have lacked in their ranks since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
What will satisfy Andrea Bertaa is that Arsenal fans are completely on board with him trying to bring Gyokeres to North London.

Arsenal fans excited about Andrea Berta’s move for Viktor Gyokeres
One Arsenal fan stressed that Berta is making the right decision by prioritising a move for the seasoned Gyokeres over a 21-year-old Benjamin Sesko, who Bayern Munich could sign, writing: “Gyokeres makes sense since he’s a proven striker, he’s 26 years old and will be more likely to hit the ground running. Sesko is younger and is a bit more raw. Obviously Isak is the dream, but he will be incredibly expensive.”
Another supporter claimed that due to how the 26-year-old gave William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes a tough outing in the Gunners’ 5-1 demolition job of Sporting CP in November, a move makes complete sense: “This season, only two strikers, [Alexander] Isak and Gyokeres have managed to challenge Saliba and Gabriel. Frankly, we need to sign one of them. Any striker who can give Saliba and Gabi such a tough time is the one we want!”
A third Arsenal fan claimed Gyokeres would be the perfect alternative in case they cannot sign Alexander Isak: “I like this. A lot. A very good plan in case it isn’t possible to sign Isak. I am a big fan of Gyokeres. I have zero time or patience for ‘Sesko’ or any young striker, sorry.”
Arsenal have three alternatives for Gyokeres such as Victor Osimhen, Jonathan David and Hugo Ekitike but one fan has explained why Andrea Berta’s preference towards the former Coventry frontman is “exciting”: “Gyokeres is an exciting option. Element of the unknown with how he’d transition from a very different league but the guy scores goals. Lots of goals. The type of striker who can get a shot off from any position, and maybe that’s exactly what this team needs.”
A fifth supporter added: “You can’t convince me that Merino can score goals for us but Gyokeres especially with Zubimendi with his passing range also coming can’t score tons of goals for us.”
Finally, a sixth Arsenal fan compared Gyokeres to Erling Haaland as a pure goalscorer: “There will be Arsenal fans who hype up 10 goal a season Sesko over 40 goal-a-season CF (centre-forward) Gyokeres by the way, because of ‘ceiling’ nonsense. Nobody cares, just like Haaland he will bag tonnes of goals. The penny has finally dropped for Arteta in that regard.”

How much could Andrea Berta sign Viktor Gyokeres for?
While Arsenal fans are clearly over the moon about Andrea Berta having his sights set on signing Gyokeres, every player in the summer transfer window has a price.
Mikel Arteta will also be mindful of the fact that it is only worth signing the in-form striker if the fee suits the Gunners as there are plenty of other strikers they could bring in instead.
Luckily for Arsenal, Fabrizio Romano revealed a few weeks ago that any of Gyokeres’ suitors could sign him for a fee between £54.3 to £62.7 million: “And they’ve been informed that this price between €65-75 million (£54.3 to £62.7 million) could be enough to land one of the best strikers in Europe in the summer. So many clubs calling, many clubs exploring the situation, many clubs ready to present their project to Victor Gyokeres, so keep an eye on this situation.”
Considering the star striker’s release clause is valued at €100 million (£83.6 million), the fact that Andrea Berta has the chance to sign him on a discounted fee gives him another reason to go ahead with the deal.
