Liverpool lineup vs. Everton: Predicted XI for Wednesday night’s Merseyside derby

Liverpool could be forced to start Jarell Quansah at right-back once again when they welcome Everton to Anfield for the Merseyside derby in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley were already absent with hamstring issues, before Trent Alexander-Arnold suffered a nasty-looking ankle injury in the Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain shortly before the international break.

That ruled Alexander-Arnold out of the EFL Cup final against Newcastle United, and saw him miss England’s opening 2026 World Cup qualifiers last week, while news around his potential imminent exit from the club dominated the headlines.

Fortunately for manager Arne Slot, across the rest of the pitch, he has plenty of options available to him with a largely-fit squad.

The only slight concerns will be around Ryan Gravenberch and Alisson, because the Dutch midfielder pulled out of their national squad last week, while the latter left Brazil duty early before their defeat to Argentina, but both should be fine to feature.

Alexis Mac Allister played for Argentina in that commanding win over Brazil, scoring and returning unscathed, to the delight of the Liverpool faithful, but midfield partner Dominik Szoboszlai endured a more difficult week, suffering two heavy defeats with Hungary, before getting involved in a public spat with Turkey’s Arda Guler.

The only other question surrounding the Liverpool selection will be in attack, with Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez all out of form at present.

Top scorer Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo are certain to start, and despite scoring off the bench in the cup final defeat, Federico Chiesa is unlikely to be rewarded with a place in the XI, so Diaz may get the nod again, as he so often has this season.

Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Alisson; Quansah, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Salah, Diaz, Gakpo
