Southampton lineup vs. Crystal Palace: Predicted XI for Premier League clash amid Jan Bednarek, Taylor Harwood-Bellis doubts

Southampton defender Jan Bednarek should be fit to start Wednesday’s Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace at St Mary’s.

Bednarek missed Southampton’s 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers before the international break due to a concussion.

The 28-year-old recovered to feature in the starting lineup in both of Poland’s World Cup qualifying wins over Lithuania and Malta, although he was forced off against the latter with a head injury.

However, Bednarek’s withdrawal was said to be a precautionary measure, and he should be ready to feature in defence against the Eagles.

Fellow defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis is a doubt after he picked up a thigh problem while on international duty with the England Under-21 side.

James Bree will also have to be assessed by Southampton’s medical staff, having missed Southampton’s last two matches with a hamstring injury.

If Harwood-Bellis and Bree are unavailable, Bednarek will likely feature in a back three alongside Kyle Walker-Peters and Armel Bella-Kotchap.

Yukinari Sugawara and Ryan Manning are set to operate as the two wing-backs, while Lesley Ugochukwu and Joe Aribo should feature in the middle of the park.

Kamaldeen Suleman and Tyler Dibling should retain their places in the side, with the latter looking to add to the seven goal contributions he has registered this season.

Forward Paul Onuachu is pushing for a starting spot after coming off the bench to score a consolation in the loss to Wolves before the international window.

Meanwhile, there are some doubts as to whether Will Smallbone, Juan Larios and Ross Stewart will be fit to feature in the matchday squad.

Southampton possible starting lineup: Ramsdale; Walker-Peters, Bella-Kotchap, Bednarek; Sugawara, Ugochukwu, Aribo, Manning; Dibling, Sulemana, Onuachu
