Bayern Munich is prepping to face FC Augsburg…

More sources indicate Müller won’t get new deal (Sportschau via @iMiaSanMia)

We have heard a lot about Thomas Müller’s situation with Bayern Munich over the past few days — and not all of it has sat well with fans.

This will not help:

Thomas Müller will not receive a new contract and his time at Bayern will come to an end this summer, ‘well-informed sources’ have confirmed that to @sportschau / @BR24. Müller has not communicated yet whether he will retire or move to another club.

What seems to be bothering many fans when it comes to Müller is that all of this news broke before the club tried to even provide an equitable solution (if you believe the reports). Müller is a revered figure, especially among a certain age group within the fanbase. Hopefully, we will see something emerge that indicates a better effort was made. In a case like this, it should not be black or white (or even red or green if you will). There should be a middle ground to make it work for everyone.

Gunners could make move for Gyökeres (ESPN)

Viktor Gyökeres is on the transfer radar of quite a few clubs, but Arsenal FC could be the most serious team at the moment:

Arsenal hold a “strong interest” in Viktor Gyökeres and could target the Sporting CP striker in the summer, The Athletic reports. New Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is a firm admirer of the 26-year-old, who is viewed as a more attainable target than Newcastle United star Alexander Isak. While Gyökeres is under contract at Sporting until June 2028, it is widely believed that his valuation is a lot lower than that of Isak, who could cost interested clubs upwards of £120 million.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 7, Episode 36 (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich has a lot going on.

Aside of its Bundesliga title, Champions League run, and constant fight against injuries, Bayern Munich could be in a showdown with club legend Thomas Müller — and could be turning him away (depending on whether or not you believe the latest reports).

Let’s talk about all of it on the latest edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:

  • Müller is apparently OUT at Bayern Munich this season despite wanting to return. Let’s talk about what we know on both sides of this. Sport Bild, kicker, and Sky are not denying Müller, but nothing is official.
  • Let’s talk about why Bayern Munich might be turning him away.
  • This is also horrible vibes at this point in the season. Will Bayern Munich rally around it or become distracted?
  • Oh yeah, Hiroki Itō is now also out “several months” with another metatarsal injury.
  • What can Bayern Munich do to work around losing its top two left-back options for the season.
  • And, yeah, we will discuss the topic of rotations and injury management again.

Roma set to split with Hummels (Corriere dello Sport via ESPN)

AS Roma and Mats Hummels are not likely to renew their relationship for next season:

Roma intend to part ways with centre-back Mats Hummels this summer and are considering Las Palmas’ Mika Marmol and Udinese’s Oumar Solet as a possible replacement.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Bayern Munich 3-2 St. Pauli (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich took on St. Pauli at the Allianz Arena and looked like a team that was still shaking off the international break.

Creative at times, choppy at others, Bayern Munich played down to the level of its competition in the league again at times, but also showed great resilience. The Champions League is important, but winning the Bundesliga should be the primary goal at the moment, so it was good to see the attacking group step up and shoulder the load.

Let’s dig into it, this is what we have on tap for the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:

  • A look at the lineup and why some of the players left out were on the bench.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
  • Some final takeaways from the match.

Konate to leave LFC? (Football Insider via ESPN)

Liverpool FC and defender Ibrahima Konate could be headed for a split:

Liverpool are no closer to agreeing a new contract with central defender Ibrahima Konate, who is about to move into the final 12 months of his deal. Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are both interested.

Klopp to…Madrid? (TBR Football)

Is Jürgen Klopp going to make a return to coaching? If so, Real Madrid might be ready to give him a new home:

TBR Football can exclusively confirm that former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could soon be offered a route back into management this summer.

Klopp departed Anfield last summer and, late last year, he agreed to becoming Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull – a role he took up in January.

Klopp is not rushing to return to management, but TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has learned that Klopp’s name is being discussed within the corridors of power at Real Madrid.

We understand that current Real head coach Carlo Ancelotti is ready to step away at the end of the season and he is ready to move into international management.

Ancelotti is firm favourite to take charge of Brazil – who have axed head coach Dorival. Ironically, Brazil are one of the possible options for could present themselves to Klopp – but Ancelotti appears their first choice.

Knowing Ancelotti’s future is far from certain, Real have been working in the background and their former midfielder Xabi Alonso, currently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, is very much the man who has emerged as their preferred candidate.

However, TBR Football understands that Real are doing work on other options and we believe one of those is Klopp.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 36 (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich’s preparation for the stretch run of the season hit some snags over the course of the last week thanks to some very untimely injuries.

Hasenhüttl out at Wolfsburg? (kicker)

After doing an excellent work in the first half of the season, Ralph Hasenhüttl could be on thin ice at VfL Wolfsburg:

The contract runs until 2026, with an option for extension for either side. Yet, it currently seems increasingly unlikely that Ralph Hasenhüttl will remain coach of VfL Wolfsburg next season. Managing Director Peter Christiansen sidesteps this question, speaking to kicker one day after the 1-0 defeat against 1. FC Heidenheim .

How does Christiansen assess Hasenhüttl’s work? Is it certain that VfL will continue with the Austrian in the new season? Does this depend on the outcome of this season? Or are there already other plans? Kicker posed these questions to the 50-year-old, who avoided making a clear commitment to his coach.

“I’ve been in this business too long to talk about such topics at this point,” Christiansen replies, focusing on the sporting situation. “We are in an important and decisive phase in which we must join forces to successfully finish the season. We are working on this together, and this is the full focus of everyone on and around the team.”

The boss doesn’t want to answer the coaching question, so at least it’s clear that nothing is certain. After all, he could easily announce the coach’s stay, as he still has a valid contract. Internally, the word is that the situation will be analyzed after the season. According to information obtained by kicker, a departure for Hasenhüttl in the summer would surprise quite a few. The coach himself recently said: “I’m much more relaxed about it than I used to be.”

kicker has already reported that there are critical voices within the club regarding the football performances, which the coach has also reportedly heard for a long time . The preliminary low point of this development was Saturday’s defeat against Heidenheim.
