As Thomas Müller’s tenure with Bayern Munich appears to be coming to an end, many figures from his past are checking in on the situation.

Former Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal is among them and wants to see Müller go out as a hero.

“Unfortunately, Müller doesn’t always play anymore. It’s up to him whether he wants that role [substitute] after being one of Bayern Munich’s most important players for so many years. If he decides to go, he deserves a big farewell for the fans and teammates of FC Bayern,” Van Gaal told Sky Sport (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

While there is still a chance for this situation to turn around, it might be hard for the Bavarians to give Müller a proper send off with how things have progressed. Perhaps, there will be time to mend fences, but as of now, it seems like Bayern Munich is set to move on without making much of an attempt to find a middle-ground.
