Liverpool and Chelsea are favourites to sign Marc Guehi this summerWhat Crystal Palace are doing to replace Marc Guehi as he’s set for exit

Tottenham Hotspur’s £70 million rejected bid for Guehi became a huge talking point during the winter transfer window as they made a late attempt to sign the England international.

However, Guehi chose not to leave Crystal Palace and instead, see out the season with Oliver Glasner’s side.

But after the end of the 2024/2025 campaign, the former Chelsea defender will have just one year left on his contract.

With that being the case, Marc Guehi is a name who is on Liverpool and Chelsea’s summer transfer shortlist in particular.

Liverpool and Chelsea are favourites to sign Marc Guehi this summer

Sources have now informed TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that Liverpool and Chelsea are the favourites to sign Guehi in the summer.

Arne Slot’s side enquired about the possibility of bringing the Crystal Palace captain to Anfield last summer as well but at the time, the timing was not right.

But now, Liverpool are firm contenders to sign Guehi and so are Chelsea, who are unsurprisingly tempted by the opportunity of re-signing a homegrown player who also played for the club previously.

Jamie O’Hara dubbed Guehi as a “top player” and even this season, he has been a rock at the back for Crystal Palace.

While Joe Cole claimed Guehi was underrated, the Premier League’s top clubs certainly hold him in high regard — as both Tottenham and Aston Villa still appreciate him.

However, it is quite unlikely for Spurs and Villa to beat either Liverpool or Chelsea in the quest to sign the 24-year-old.

What Crystal Palace are doing to replace Marc Guehi as he’s set for exit

The Three Lions star is one of the league’s best central defenders and a player of his calibre deserves to be playing for some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Guehi is ready to leave Crystal Palace and clubs could now sign him for a bargain fee as he enters the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park next year.

TBR Football understands that Crystal Palace have identified Maxime Esteve and Rav van den Berg as potential replacements for the Abidjan-born star.

Crystal Palace’s interest in Esteve emerged last month, which shows how highly they rate the Frenchman.
