Liverpool transfer news as Mohamed Salah ‘prepared to leave’ amid another Real Madrid battle

4 Min Read

After a long, long wait, Liverpool is finally back in action today. Fans will no doubt be glad to get some respite from the transfer drama that has unfolded over the past couple of weeks.

But while Arne Slot’s men get ready to take on Everton, there is still plenty of uncertainty lingering behind the scenes. Trent Alexander-Arnold of course looks to be getting closer to a move to Real Madrid in the summer, and Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk could still follow him out of the exit door if they don’t sign new contracts.

What’s more, Salah’s links to Saudi Arabia are growing once more, and if the latest reports are to be believed, he could soon be swapping the Premier League for the Pro League.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Mohamed Salah is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. It’s claimed that the Egyptian is “preparing for a major change of scenery,” with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal set to make an “unprecedented effort” to secure his signing.

The claim comes amid yet more speculation of interest from Saudi Arabia from Salah. According to The Telegraph, the 32-year-old is still considering a move to the Middle East, with communication open despite an offer being on the table from Liverpool.

Liverpool.com says: It’s all getting a little nervy, isn’t it? We doubt it’s all done like the reports from Spain are suggesting, but the fact that the interest from Saudi Arabia is re-emerging now is more than a little worrying for Liverpool.

The fact that we’re at this point in the season with still no word on what Salah will be doing in the summer is enough cause for concern. Liverpool simply has to get a deal done, although the ball is firmly in the Egyptian’s court.

Piero Hincapie (Bayer Leverkusen)

Liverpool and Real Madrid are both interested in Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, according to Sky Sports Germany.

The claim comes in a report detailing the German champion’s talks with FC Lugano defender Albian Hajdari. It’s suggested that the Swiss youngster could be a potential replacement for Hincapie, who could be on the move in the summer.

Liverpool.com says: Hincapie has been linked with Liverpool previously, and given he can play as a center-back or as a left-back, that makes him a very attractive prospect, although we’d absolutely make sure an out-and-out left-back is signed as well. Having said all that, you can’t help but feel a sense of dread whenever a potential transfer battle with Real is touted. We all know how those usually end.
