Nico Williams’ agent has reportedly held talks regarding a transfer as the Spain international is linked with several Premier League clubs.
Williams, 22, is currently at La Liga outfit Athletic Club and has registered nine goals and seven assists in 38 appearances this term.
However, English fans will know him best for his performances for Spain at last summer’s Euros during which he scored twice – notably in the final against England.
And many fans expected him to move on from Athletic with Arsenal heavily linked with the 22-year-old last summer, but no such transfer materialised.
However, he has since been linked with clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea and could finally move to the Premier League in the summer.
But which club are most likely to sign him?
Well, although this is still unclear, Arsenal supporters may be getting excited as Foot Mercato reports that the Gunners’ new sporting Andrea Berta met with the player’s agent in recent days.
Berta, 53, joined Arsenal earlier in March and could have a significant impact on their summer transfer business.
Speaking in a press conference earlier this week, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, admitted that he wants to “increase the quality” of his squad heading into the 2025/26 campaign.

“The way we planned the five first summers, they were going to be very big and they were going to have different objectives because the turnaround of players and the objective of those windows was going to be different,” said Arteta.
“But now when you are going to go again, we want to increase the depth of the squad but as well we want to increase the quality and the skills that we need to go to the next step. It’s going to be a big one and we are very excited about it.”
“What I’m very confident about is how he’s [Berta] going to make everybody better,” he added. “Because the way he is, the personality he has, how passionate he has and what he does – that’s what we need. We need new blood with people that are so ambitious that they are so attached to the football club and what we already do but want to add value.”
If Williams, who is under contract in Bilbao until the summer of 2027, were to sign for Arsenal this would come at a cost.
Last summer, The Athletic reported that sources explained that Williams’ release clause was €55million (£47m).
