Andrea Berta has been tasked with revamping Mikel Arteta’s front line with his Arsenal team set to come up just short in the race for the Premier League title.

It’s clear that the Gunners need greater firepower, meanwhile, other attacking options are needed to alleviate the pressure being placed on the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli to stay fit.

Arsenal’s new sporting director has wasted no time in getting to work on one of the North London club’s top transfer targets having held a meeting with him over recent days.

Andrea Berta meets with Nico Williams’ camp about Arsenal move

In recent days, Andrea Berta has met with the camp of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams about joining Arsenal, according to FootMercato.

Berta and the Spanish winger discussed the possibility of a move to Arsenal with Mikel Arteta making Williams one of his top summer targets.

Williams has a £49 million release clause in his current Athletic Bilbao contract, which is relatively cheap considering how talented has has proven himself to be in Spain.

Bayern Munich have also been linked with Williams, however, Arsenal looked to have stepped up their efforts to bring the 22-year-old to North London this summer.

The Europa League final will take place in Bilbao this season and the Spanish club are one of the favourites to win the competition.

Spearheaded by the Williams brothers, the Lions look in great stead to do well in the competition, whilst in La Liga they are also flying high in fourth place.
