The Sweden international is one of the hottest attackers in the world. He has been sensational for Sporting CP since he joined them in 2023.

In the upcoming summer transfer window, an exit is expected, and Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United have been heavily linked with Gyokeres.

New Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta wants to sign Gyokeres for Arsenal too.

A battle between the two historic English clubs has been expected to be on the cards this summer, but there is bad news for one of them now.

Viktor Gyokeres wants to join Arsenal instead of Manchester United for one reason

Both Arsenal and Manchester United need a new striker this summer.

The Gunners have been in need of a prolific centre-forward since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club over three years ago.

Manchester United have invested significant money on Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, but neither player has justified their price tag yet.

Gyokeres, hailed as a player with ‘unbelievable’ ability by Mark Robins (Coventry Telegraph), would be a great option for both clubs, but if A Bola are to be believed, the Sweden international has picked Arsenal over Manchester United.

That is because Gyokeres has a list of clubs he would be open to a move to – Arsenal are one of them, but United don’t make the cut because they are not in the Champions League.

Liverpool and Manchester City are the other English clubs Gyokeres would consider signing for, while overseas sides PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also on his radar.

But, as things stand, the report claims that Arsenal are at the top choice for Gyokeres, and the Gunners are leading the race to sign him.

What Sporting CP will do if Manchester United offer more money than Arsenal for Gyokeres

Convincing a player to join the club is one thing, but an agreement has to be reached with his team as well.

Sporting have agreed to let Gyokeres go for a fee lower than his release clause thanks to a gentleman’s agreement. The new price tag is £58.6 million.

Arsenal should be able to sign Gyokeres if they agree to pay that amount, but what will happen if Manchester United come in with a bigger offer?

The report claims that Sporting have agreed to listen to the player’s wishes in such a scenario – if Gyokeres wants to go to Arsenal and the Gunners pay £58.6 million, the offer will be accepted even if there is a bigger bid on the table.

That is good news for the Gunners, but it’s a shame for Manchester United, who were once promised by Gyokeres that they would be his next club.
