Report: What Manchester United insiders are saying about Ruben Amorim’s transfer plans this summer

4 Min Read

Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently spoke about how Manchester United are prepared to go the course with Ruben Amorim, a manager who has impressed decision-makers at Old Trafford.

Despite Man United’s league position, one that wasn’t improved by Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, the club’s owners seem to believe that Amorim is the right man to lead the club forward.

In his recent chat with Gary Neville, Ratcliffe staunchly rejected any suggestion that Amorim had been underwhelming since his arrival, instead pointing to the issues that exist at the club.

That being said, every transfer window will now be crucial for United to steer their project back in the right direction.

And whilst United are interested in signing a Lyon star, a player they’ll soon face in the Europa League, their signings may not stop there.

Man United targeting five new signings to revive Ruben Amorim’s squad

According to Give Me Sport, insiders at Old Trafford believe that United could aim to make five new signings this summer.

Although, the level of United’s spending will depend on whether they are able to qualify for next season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League this term.

The report states that United might target someone like Victor Osimhen were they to receive the big financial boost that the Champions League brings.

United have been interested in Osimhen for some time – but a striker isn’t the only profile that the club would like to recruit.

Amorim’s team want a new midfield partner for Manuel Ugarte alongside a new creator in attack and further defensive reinforcements.

United will still be able to buy players if they don’t qualify for the Champions League next season, however, their spending will need to be a lot more savvy.

And therefore securing sales of players like Antony and Marcus Rashford might be even more crucial.

Interestingly, Andre Onana is being linked with a United exit too, a goalkeeper who has gone through periods of success and poor performance since arriving at the club.

And in addition to the names mentioned, it would also seem sensible for United to find an exit for Casemiro in the near future.

United are willing to accept a loss on Casemiro if they can find a buyer this summer, with the Brazilian also ready to start a new challenge.

United are working hard to keep Kobbie Mainoo at the club right now – contract talks are continuing with the 19-year-old, but there’s no doubt that Amorim’s midfield needs to be revamped elsewhere.
