Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers has seemingly emerged as a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League battle with Nottingham Forest at Villa Park.
The England international limped off with an unspecified concern late on against Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek, although Unai Emery did not provide an update on his condition at full time.
However, the Villa boss arguably has no need to risk Rogers after Marco Asensio and Donyell Malen both came off the bench to score in that 3-0 victory, and the former has a hot streak of home form to maintain here.
Indeed, Villa have netted seven goals in their last three home games, and Asensio has struck six of them, so the Paris Saint-Germain loanee will surely be given the green light to start in Rogers’s place.
Asensio’s recall could be one of two attacking alterations considered by Emery, who will surely bring Ollie Watkins back into the lineup too, potentially at the expense of John McGinn.
Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans ought to be in no danger of losing their midfield places, though, while Matty Cash and Lucas Digne are expected to reprise their roles at full-back.
With PSG to come in the Champions League next Wednesday, though, it would not be a total shock to see Axel Disasi and Tyrone Mings come in for Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa centrally.
Aston Villa possible starting lineup:
Martinez; Cash, Disasi, Mings, Digne; Kamara, Tielemans; Asensio, Ramsey, Rashford; Watkins
