Flick pursuing Coman? Eh…(Barca Universal)

Is FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick eyeing Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman? Maybe:

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is reportedly pushing the club’s sporting directors to pursue a move for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman. According to Fichajes, Flick is eager to bring Coman to Barcelona due to their previous working relationship at Bayern Munich.

The German coach values the Frenchman’s attributes highly, believing that Coman’s speed, dribbling skills, and ability to break through defences would be a perfect fit for Barcelona’s attacking line. Barcelona’s interest in Coman isn’t new, as the talented winger has been on their radar for some time. Last summer, there were discussions about bringing the Frenchman, but negotiations fell through due to financial complications.

With Flick now at the helm, however, Barcelona’s interest in Coman appears to have been reignited, as the coach believes the winger could play a pivotal role in his tactical plans.

Look, if Flick and FC Barcelona want to give Bayern Munich anything north of €25 million on Coman…then you just tell the Bavarians where to sign. However, Fichajes, who produced the original report, is not exactly going to win a Pulitzer for investigative journalism any time soon.

In addition, Bayern Munich’s standards for a sale are probably great than those of yours truly — and could price out any buyers. Regardless, Bayern Munich needs to refresh the wing position and might have to make some concessions to do so. It will not be easy and if Max Eberl is truly on the hot seat, this could be a very interesting summer transfer window.

Mudryk to Sevilla? (Sport via ESPN)

In-limbo Chelsea attacker Mykhailo Mudryk is drawing interest from Sevilla:

Spanish side Sevilla are eyeing a loan move for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, despite his doping suspension.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: FC Augsburg vs. Bayern Munich (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich will travel to FC Augsburg for a suddenly tough battle against a very defensive squad.

The Bavarians, of course, are very banged up at the moment and Vincent Kompany will have to work around the numerous injuries on the squad. We will dive deep into that and more during the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show. Here is what we have in tap:

  • A look into where each team falls in the Bundesliga table and some discussion on the recent form of each side.
  • A look at the injury situations for both teams.
  • A guess at Bayern Munich’s starting XI, which is a tough ask given all of the injuries.
  • A prediction on the match.

Bayern rejected by Spurs prospect? (Football Insider)

According to one report, Bayern Munich was among the clubs rejected by Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Callum Olusesi:

Callum Olusesi has rejected interest from Bayern Munich to agree a big-money new Tottenham contract, sources have told Football Insider. The midfielder, 18, has agreed terms on a three-year extension which makes him one of the highest earners in Spurs’ academy set-up.

Olusesi had interest from Bayern, as well as Ajax, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain before agreeing to pledge his future to Tottenham. The player feels he can break into the first-team at Spurs next season.

Atléti keeping close eye on both Šeško, Gyökeres (El Nacional via 90Min.com)

Atlético Madrid is putting itself in the mix for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres:

Atlético Madrid have waded into the competitive race to sign one of Viktor Gyökeres and Benjamin Šeško to play alongside Julián Alvarez. Diego Simeone’s side will be battling with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Hamann unsure Kane can lead Bayern (Goal)

Didi Hamann is not quite sure that Harry Kane is going to be able to lead Bayern Munich to a Champions League trophy.

“You have to give Harry Kane credit, he scores so many goals even if he sometimes doesn’t take too much part in the game. We are in the business end of the season and he scored twice against Leverkusen, he will need to do that again against Inter if he wants to progress in the Champions League. In the league they’re going strong. They’re six points clear and he gets the goals. Would somebody else do a better job? I do not know,” Hamann told PokerScout. “Obviously, he’s cost a lot of money and been bought to score these goals. Now they are in the quarter-final and could potentially go further, whether he can do that the jury is still out for me.

“The bottom line is that he does score an awful lot of goals and he’s probably the most important player for Bayern. When it comes to winning his first trophy, I’m not sure Leverkusen are capable of winning all their games which they probably need to do in order to win the Bundesliga. But Leverkusen have no European games and Bayern Munich have, Manuel Neuer is probably out for a few more weeks now with his calf problem. So who knows? I don’t think it’ll happen, but stranger things have happened in football.”

Hamann might be taking it to the extreme, but Kane will be judged by many on how the rest of this season plays out. If Bayern stumbles in the Champions League or chokes away the Bundesliga, you can be assured that Kane’s critics will come out in full-force.

Gunners to outlast competition on Zubimendi (AS via 90Min.com)

Arsenal FC wants Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi and could be near to securing him for next season:

Arsenal are “very advanced” in their push to beat Liverpool and Real Madrid to the signature of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

Freund enjoys presence of Hoeneß (90minuten Fußbal via @iMiaSanMia)

One could imagine that the specter of Uli Hoeneß hanging over Bayern Munich’s front office could be an issue for some folks — not sporting director Christoph Freund.

”Uli Hoeneß is passionate about his club. It’s his club; it wouldn’t exist in the same way without him. If he notices something or has something to say, he’ll say it. Uli has never let anyone stop him from speaking out. We all know that he always has FC Bayern’s best interests at heart. I always have a great exchange with him. Uli has a lot of experience and knows the club very well. I generally concentrate on my work and ignore the surrounding headlines,” Freund.

Based on recent reports, there could be some tension brewing between the front office and the puppet masters supervisory board. It would be interesting to check in and see if Freund feels the same way in a few months.

Ekitiké drawing interest from LFC (Daily Mail via ESPN)

Liverpool FC could throw itself into the mix for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké:

Several clubs are keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké, with Liverpool considering him as a potential future replacement for Darwin Núñez.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 7, Episode 36 (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich has a lot going on.

Aside of its Bundesliga title, Champions League run, and constant fight against injuries, Bayern Munich could be in a showdown with club legend Thomas Müller — and could be turning him away (depending on whether or not you believe the latest reports).

Let’s talk about all of it on the latest edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:

  • Müller is apparently OUT at Bayern Munich this season despite wanting to return. Let’s talk about what we know on both sides of this. Sport Bild, kicker, and Sky are not denying Müller, but nothing is official.
  • Let’s talk about why Bayern Munich might be turning him away.
  • This is also horrible vibes at this point in the season. Will Bayern Munich rally around it or become distracted?
  • Oh yeah, Hiroki Itō is now also out “several months” with another metatarsal injury.
  • What can Bayern Munich do to work around losing its top two left-back options for the season.
  • And, yeah, we will discuss the topic of rotations and injury management again.
