Well, the guy does love football…
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany might just be a jet-setting, international man of mystery.
After training on Wednesday, Kompany hopped on a plane, traveled to Milan, and watched his next Champions League opponent — Inter Milan — take on its rival, AC Milan. Rumors began to swirl that the coach was there to scout Inter Milan…and AC Milan center-back Malick Thiaw.
Kompany, of course, played coy about the situation.
“I’m busy with football a lot. It’s probably not for reasons others might think. I always enjoy watching football. It was a chance for me to think a step ahead (about Inter) in my free time, but the focus today is only on Augsburg,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I always watch football in my free time, no matter the team. It’s partly a hobby, partly a job. The schedule has allowed me to watch a relevant game for the coming weeks. In the time before and after, I dedicate everything to the next game. I understand the importance of the game [Inter]. But you have to separate and structure the whole thing.”
As always, Kompany is playing it all very close to the vest.
