TBR Football can exclusively confirm Eintracht Frankfurt’s stance on Hugo Larsson amid interest from Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as they look to bolster their ranks.
The Citizens have had a poor season by their usually high standards and have already embarked on a squad rebuild.
Meanwhile, the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will want more strength in depth to compete on multiple fronts next term.
Larsson has become a target for some of the biggest clubs in Europe in wake of his impressive efforts in Eintracht Frankfurt’s midfield.
Eintracht Frankfurt unwilling to let both Hugo Larsson and Hugo Ekitike leave in case of Champions League qualification
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Frankfurt are not expecting to let both their Hugos leave this summer if they get into the Champions League.
We understand both Larsson and Ekitike have been the subject of interest – the latter as we reported last week.
TBR Football can confirm Larsson is someone Man City have done work on in recent months and is very much on their radar.
However, the Citizens still like Bruno Guimaraes, whilst Adam Wharton and Atalanta’s Ederson remain of interest.
All of the Premier League’s top clubs have been checking on the young Swedish star – including Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Larsson is under contract to 2029 – so it is not certain he does leave this summer.
City and their fellow suitors are planning on watching him closely in Frankfurt’s forthcoming Europa League meeting with Tottenham.
What Hugo Larsson could bring to the Premier League
Larsson has made a name for himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young players.
At just 20 years of age, he’s already made 76 competitive appearances for Eintracht, registering eight goals and three assists in the process.
Larsson has also won eight caps for Sweden and has two trophies to his name – the Swedish title and the Swedish cup.
Larsson’s style of play has been compared to that of Manchester City star Rodri, considered to be the best holding midfielder in the world.
“He (Rice) is a similar type of player to me,” he told German media last year. “He aggressively and defensively does a lot of good things, I look up at him.”
Meanwhile, Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig has described Larsson as a ‘box-to-box midfielder with good playmaking skills’.
He is ‘able to produce powerful and dangerous runs up field on the counter-attack’, added Kulig.
