Man United ‘not alone in their admiration’ of £59.5m-rated RB Leipzig star as Premier League rivals are ‘revealed’

Manchester United will reportedly face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool for RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons during this summer’s transfer window.

The Netherlands international has been in strong form for Leipzig during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring eight goals and registering six assists in 27 appearances in all competitions.

Simons joined Leipzig on a permanent deal from French giants Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window, with the switch said to be worth an initial £42m.

The deal could eventually rise to £67m if various add-ons are met, but there is a host of speculation surrounding the 21-year-old’s future, with Leipzig thought to be open to moving him on at the end of the campaign.

Man United are currently being heavily linked with Simons, with Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim believed to view him as the ideal player to operate as one of the number 10s in his 3-4-3 formation.

Man United ‘face competition’ for Leipzig’s Simons

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are also keen, with the Premier League trio believed to be ready to rival the 20-time English champions at the end of the campaign.

Simons has a record of 18 goals and 21 assists in 71 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions, while he also impressed during a spell with PSV Eindhoven, scoring 22 goals and registering 11 assists in 48 outings.

The attacker was a star for PSG at youth level, but he failed to make his mark in the first team, being restricted to just 11 appearances, and he only managed one assist for the French champions.

Simons has a valuation of £59.5m, according to transfermarkt, and it is understood that he could be available for a fee in that region during this summer’s transfer window.

Will Simons move to the Premier League this summer?

The attacker will not be short of options this summer, with four of England’s biggest clubs seemingly in the running for his signature, and at £59.5m, he could be considered a bargain due to his current performance level and potential.

Simons has a record of four goals and four assists in 26 appearances for Netherlands, including a goal and an assist against Spain in the second leg of their UEFA Nations league quarter-final last time out.

The Dutchman is ideal for Amorim’s 3-4-3 system at Old Trafford, but it is also not difficult to see where he would fit in at Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool considering his quality, and it seems likely that he will be on his way to England’s top flight at the end of the season.
