Virgil van Dijk has had some great battles with Son, while the Korean has also played against the likes of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Heung-Min Son has been asked to name who has been his toughest opponent over the years.

Son has played against some all-time greats in the Premier League, but the attacker named a former Chelsea star as his toughest opponent, claiming that N’Golo Kante is the best player he’s come up against.

Heung-Min Son names N’Golo Kante as his toughest opponent

Son named Kante as his toughest opponent in the Premier League.

The Spurs star says that he used to find it really hard to play against Kante, noting that he thinks the Frenchman is an underrated player who never really got the credit he deserves.

“I kind of found it really hard playing against Kante. He was actually everywhere. He covers a lot of ground, an underrated kind of performance, you don’t get much headlines or spotlight, everyone gets a spotlight when they’re scoring goals, but he was so tough when he was back at Chelsea,” Son said.

Son says that he used to struggle against Kante, and the numbers really do back that up.

Indeed, Son has an absolutely terrible record against Kante during his Premier League career.

The Spurs star has played 14 games against Kante over the years, but, in those matches, he’s scored just one goal.

As Son says, Kante was the type of player who would suffocate any opposition attack, and it appears as though he always had Son’s number.

Son also claimed that Kante was underrated, but Kante did get plenty of credit for his performances.

Indeed, the Frenchman won the PFA Player of the Year award back in 2017, while Kante has received plenty of praise from his peers over the years as well.

Son certainly knows how good Kante was, naming him as his toughest opponent ever in the Premier League.
