Real Betis’ sporting director has been discussing the club’s chances of signing Antony permanently from Manchester United as the winger continues to impress in Spain.
Antony is becoming quite a fans’ favourite in Seville as he is proving himself to be a key player in the club’s push for Champions League football and the Europa Conference League title.
Betis have won six of the nine La Liga matches in which the Brazilian has started and managed to hold league leaders Barcelona to a draw on Saturday evening.
The Spanish club have already made their stance clear over signing the winger and it’ll be interesting to see what United are thinking about the winger’s progress.
Real Betis’ sporting director on signing Antony permanently
Real Betis’ sporting director, Manu Fajardo, claims that the club will do ‘everything possible’ to ensure Antony re-signs for them in the summer.
Betis could suddenly have a rather decent-sized transfer budget with Champions League qualification on the cards and a good chance of progressing far in the Conference League as well.
Speaking ahead of their clash against Barcelona, Betis’ sporting director Manu Fajardo told Movistar LaLiga TV: “It’s still early, but we’ll try in different ways to do everything possible to ensure Antony stays.”
Manchester United may sense this as a great chance to recoup some of their money back on the 25-year-old, having paid £86 million to sign him from Ajax in 2022.
Antony has managed eight goal contributions in 13 appearances for Betis since his loan move from United, which includes four goals and four assists.

What the Spanish media are saying about Antony’s performance vs Barcelona
Antony impressed once again for Betis on Saturday evening as he starred against FC Barcelona and had the Spanish media raving about his performance.
ElDesmarque described him as ‘Barca’s biggest headache’ and lauded his work rate: “Barca’s biggest headache. All of Betis’ danger came through his boots, trying to cause damage on the counterattack. He tried to wage war on his own, attacking with one man down on more than one occasion. That prevented him from doing more damage, but his commitment is unquestionable.”
Meanwhile, Estadio Deportivo rated his display 9/10: “The Brazilian had a great performance on a big stage, confirming his status as one of La Liga’s biggest stars. He was Pellegrini’s go-to man to unleash his team, taking advantage of his spectacular speed to counter Barça’s control. His gallops down the right flank led to almost every dangerous opportunity.”
Betisweb were also full of praise for his performance: “Constantly overflowing. He was Betis’ main offensive focal point, creating danger on several counterattacks. His runs broke lines, but he often found himself alone and forced to play with one man down. He lacked decisiveness in the final play, but his daring performance was invaluable.”
