Bruno Fernandes was arguably the only standout performer for Manchester United during a lacklustre first half against Manchester City in the derby.
Both sides lacked quality in the first 45 minutes and the biggest danger argubaly came when Alejandro Garnacho got in behind Man City’s defence.
The Man United winger was swiftly halted by Ruben Dias for his latch-ditch foul, one that might have deserved more severe punishment in the eyes of some.
Either way, neither side really looked like scoring in the first half thereafter.
However, there was an interesting incident when United were attacking fast on the counter in the 28th minute of the game, an attack that was ultimately stifled by Garnacho’s poor execution.
Bruno Fernandes was not happy with Alejandro Garnacho
Speaking on Sky Sports’ coverage of the match, Gary Neville spotted Fernandes ‘having a right go’ at Garnacho for his lacklustre pass that possibly denied a goalscoring opportunity.
Fernandes is famed for his emotional outbursts – it won’t be the first or last time that he’ll publicly chastise one of his teammates in frustration.

But on this occasion Neville agreed with his rant aimed at Garnacho, who failed to play a very simple pass to Fernandes on a fast counter.
Giving his thoughts, Neville said: “Bruno is having a right go at Garnacho and he’s right.
“Sometimes he can whinge a little too much but I think he’s got cause – that pass should have been right in front of him so he could take it and hit it himself.
“It’s too slow the pass it’s behind Bruno Fernandes.”
Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Man United
Despite coming through the academy at United, Garnacho does seem to still be something of a polarising figure among the club’s fanbase.
Some would like to see the winger sold, given the funds he could raise – money that Ruben Amorim could then reinvest in his squad.
United want £70m for Garnacho should they sell, a player who has been strongly linked with Chelsea over the past year or so.
Fortunately for United, Fernandes won’t be going anywhere – something Amorim made very clear recently.
Neville was quick to point out that United’s captain was the only player who showed quality in the first half of the Manchester Derby, one that will be Kevin De Bruyne’s last in a City shirt.
