In Andrea Berta’s first summer at the club, Arsenal are hoping to secure the signature of a superstar striker, the kind of number nine who can make the difference in tight games.
Of course, that is partly why the Italian has been brought to Arsenal – he’s got a strong reputation in Europe for executing landmark deals.
Arsenal are chasing a list of strikers as alternatives to Alexander Isak who might end up being off-limits at Newcastle United.
Alexander Isak is Mikel Arteta’s first-choice striker but the Swede also has interest from Liverpool and might not end up leaving St James’ Park at all if Newcastle secure Champions League football.
Therefore, Arsenal are interested in Viktor Gyokeres as a potential alternative, a striker who could make a more immediate impact.
Viktor Gyokeres’ agents are on their way to Arsenal
That being said, Football Transfers are now reporting that Gyokeres’ agents are planning a trip to north London next week.
Gyokeres’ camp will be in attendance at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday when Arsenal face Real Madrid in their hotly anticipated Champions League tie.

Since his arrival, Berta is leading the charge in terms of Arsenal’s interest in Gyokeres, a player he often watched whilst in charge at Atletico Madrid.
The report states that Gyokeres’ agents’ planned trip to the Emirates is ‘not completely out of the ordinary’, but given that Arsenal’s interest in the Swede has grown of late, it only adds fuel to the fire.
Gyokeres has a release clause of around £85m this summer, however, it is understood that Sporting CP could agree to a much lower figure.
Arsenal are also pushing to sign Nico Williams
Of course, it’s not just a striker who the Gunners are after this summer – Mikel Arteta is hoping for improvements across the board.
Arsenal are pushing to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao as well, a winger who might even supply goals for Gyokeres at the Emirates should Berta get his way.
It’s set to be an incredibly exciting summer for fans in N5, the kind of window they’ve been waiting for.
Arsenal still want Martin Zubimendi in addition to the players mentioned and Arteta’s squad could look very different at the start of next campaign.
However, it’s undoubtedly the signing of a new number nine which will captivate Arsenal supporters the most, a signing they’ve been craving for years.
