Perhaps due to Tottenham Hotspur failing to win any piece of major silverware since 2008, some of their players might not get their due credit.

However, it goes without saying that Tottenham have had their fair share of incredible players over the years.

From Gareth Bale to Harry Kane, Spurs fans have had the privilege of tuning into watch some truly outstanding players in action.

One of them was Mousa Dembele, who was well and truly a joy to watch in a Tottenham shirt.

Amadou Onana says Mousa Dembele doesn’t “get enough credit”

Amadou Onana believes that Mousa Dembele did not get the credit he deserves during his time at Tottenham and even at international level.

As a player, Onana believes Dembele was truly “sensational” and perhaps his injuries played a part in him not being hailed as the incredible midfielder he was.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Aston Villa dynamo had high praise for Mousa Dembele: “I don’t think he gets enough credit for how good he was. Obviously, he’s had a couple of injuries but I think he’s a sensational player as well. He’s been amazing. In the Prem, also for Belgium.”

Kieran Tripper claimed Mousa Dembele was underrated as well and named the Belgian as the most skillful player he has ever played with.

While Jack Wilshere revealed he “hated” playing against Mousa Dembele when the pair would come up against in the North London Derby.

What Antonio Rudiger said about Mousa Dembele after facing him

Tim Sherwood claimed Tottenham haven’t replaced Mousa Dembele to this day — which speaks to just how influential he was during his spell in N17.

Antonio Rudiger raved about Dembele’s spell at Tottenham when naming the most underrated player he has ever played against.

Rudiger said in October: “Mousa Dembele from Tottenham Hotspur. Wow, wow.”

“This guy, no disrespect to Tottenham, but I don’t know how he didn’t play for a higher club.”

Rudiger also claimed that he has never seen a physically stronger player in his career than Mousa Dembele while lauding his immaculate technique.

“I really don’t know how because he had everything. I’ve never seen someone as strong as him. He was like a wall. And technique – poof! He didn’t know pressure.”

“You can pass him the ball and two men can be behind him – no problem!”
