By all accounts, Arsenal youngster Max Dowman is set to follow in the footsteps of both Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly in the years to come.
Despite only being 15-years-old, Dowman’s name is already a familiar one with Arsenal fans, a youngster who is constantly making headlines.
It seems as if Mikel Arteta and his team have already been keen to show Dowman that he does have a first team path at the Emirates Stadium – they don’t want him to be wooed by a rival club offering quicker minutes.
That being said, Dowman is still playing with Arsenal U18s as he continues his development, even if he does often train with Arteta’s first team.
And after scoring a hat-trick for Adam Birchall’s side in a 5-3 win against Leicester City on Saturday, Dowman perhaps proved that he’s now ready for the next step.
Arsenal coaches wowed by Max Dowman’s message to his teammates
Speaking via Arsenal’s official website, Birchall discussed Dowman’s performance as well as mentioning what he said to his teammates back in the dressing room.
Birchall was ‘incredibly proud’ of Dowman, a youngster who continues to show all the right signs in north London.
He said: “We’re all incredibly proud of him. He’s currently playing under-18s football, but still has a lot of development ahead of him.
“It was a fantastic performance and a brilliant hat-trick.
“What really sums Max up is that he came off the pitch and was honest in the dressing room about areas we can improve as a team, as well as how he can develop individually.
“That level of humility and hunger to improve is a great sign in a young player – and that’s exactly what he showed today.”
Max Dowman revealed the two Arsenal players who impressed him in training
Speaking towards the end of last year, Dowman actually named the two Arsenal players who had impressed him the most in first-team training.
The 15-year-old chose William Saliba and Declan Rice, praising their aura around London Colney.
In a TikTok, Dowman said: “I’d say Saliba or Declan Rice I’d say – just the way they played and how composed they were and how they carried themselves in training.”
Of course, it’s not impossible to think that Dowman will be playing alongside the duo under Arteta in a few months time.
Saliba wants to stay at Arsenal despite links to Real Madrid and there’s seemingly no chance of Rice leaving either.
