Fulham player shares what he heard about Liverpool before 3-2 win which made him even more determined to beat them

Liverpool failed to move even further ahead of Arsenal on Sunday after falling to a 3-2 defeat at Fulham.

Arne Slot will be extremely concerned by the defending on show from his side at Craven Cottage, with Liverpool conceding three goals in just 14 first-half minutes.

To be fair, the Reds might not have felt too motivated after seeing Arsenal draw 1-1 at Everton on Saturday, with Liverpool still 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League despite losing to Fulham.

Before Sunday, Liverpool had not suffered an away defeat in the Premier League this season, with a loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield the only time anyone had beaten the Reds this term, in the league at least.

Andersen – who Pep Guardiola admires – has now told Viaplay (via Danish news outlet Bold) that, after hearing this statistic, he and his Fulham teammates garnered even more motivation to inflict defeat on Liverpool.

The Denmark international said: “We were told that they had not lost away from home this season, so that gave us some motivation. However, I expect them to win the league.

“We know that we can put all teams under pressure. Those were some great goals, and everyone just worked really hard.”

Can Liverpool still receive a Guard of Honour from Arsenal?

For the Liverpool fans desperate to see Arsenal players line up for a Guard of Honour at Anfield in May, the dream is still alive.

Despite losing to Fulham, Liverpool can still make it mathematically impossible for Arsenal to win the Premier League title by picking up wins in their next four games against West Ham, Leicester, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Even failing to win some of those games could still be enough to receive a Guard of Honour from the Gunners – if Arsenal lose to Brentford, Ipswich, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in their next four Premier League fixtures.
