Southampton have parted ways with Ivan Juric less than 24 hours after their relegation to the Championship was confirmed, talkSPORT understands.
And the Saints have lined up Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl and Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior as targets to replace the Croatian.
The 49-year-old lasted just 107 days at St Mary’s following his appointment in December to succeed Russell Martin.
But he failed to guide the south coast outfit to Premier League safety, with the club to return to the Championship after just one season.
The Saints lost 3-1 away at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday to seal their fate with seven games remaining.
It means Southampton now hold the record for the earliest relegation in Premier League history.
From Juric’s 16 matches as Southampton boss, he won just twice, while losing on 13 occasions.
Juric gave no indication that an exit was to be on cards when asked about his future following the defeat at Spurs, as he said: “No, now we will see everything.
“We are thinking just about the games now. We will see now what everyone thinks, what I think.
“The fans deserve much more and we have to understand all of the mistakes we have made and then create something really strong.
“It’s a difficult day, a tough day but I see the fans, how they love their players and their team – it’s something incredible.
“This experience has to serve to create something stronger than this.”
With Juric out the door, talksSPORT understands that midfielder Adam Lallana and first team coach Simon Rusk are being considered to take charge until the end of the season.
Lallana has featured 14 times in the Premier League this season since returning to his former stomping ground last summer.
While Rusk was briefly the club’s caretaker boss in December, where he drew and lost from his two matches.
But looking long-term, and it’s Rohl and Rosenior that are being eyed up by Saints chiefs.
Rohl has impressed since taking over at Hillsborough in October 2023, where he guided them to Championship survival before leading them to play-off contention this term.
As for Rosenior, he has been nothing short of sensational since being appointed at French side Strasbourg in July 2024.
He has taken the club, who finished 13th in Ligue 1 last term, to fourth with ten games to play in their quest to seal a Champions League spot.
Rosenior previously spent time as Derby’s interim boss, before being harshly sacked by Hull following a seventh-placed finish last campaign.
