The Liverpool legend has explained exactly how his former club can be beaten in the Premier League.

Jamie Carragher has explained exactly why Liverpool suffered a shock loss to Fulham with expert analysis on Monday Night Football.

On Monday night, Newcastle United travel to the King Power stadium to face a struggling Leicester City side in the Premier League.

Ahead of the match, Sky Sports pundit Carragher addressed his former club Liverpool’s shock loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.

During his analysis, the ex-Liverpool defender explained exactly why Fulham were able to come back from being 1-0 down to win the match 3-2, keeping their hopes of European football alive.

After Arsenal dropped points to Everton in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Saturday, Liverpool fans had hoped that their side could take one step closer to lifting their 20th league title with a win over Fulham.

But, despite an early rocket from Alexis Mac Allister, the Reds appeared to switch off, leading to three goals in 15 minutes from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz.

Explaining what caused the shock defeat, Carragher told Sky Sports: “A lot of it for me was Marco Silva and the little positions that he put certain players in.”

The Liverpool legend then went on to point out how Fulham stars Antonee Robinson, who has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent months, and Rodrigo Muniz and Andrea Pereira identified and exploited a weakness on the right of Liverpool’s defence.

This set up allowed Muniz to find space as they targeted Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones, who filled in at right back in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley.

Reacting to the analysis, one fan wrote on X: “Spot on. Liverpool need to improve technically in the market sign the players to help you here … that and physicality and pace are needed.”

Another agreed, adding: “I think he got that right for the first time.”

While one concerned fan wrote: “This is where the problem starts.”

Despite the disappointing result, Liverpool remain 11 points clear of Arsenal on top of the Premier League table and require only 11 more points from their remaining seven game to secure the 2024/25 title.
