Arsenal legend Thierry Henry walks off CBS Sports set during interview segment and says ‘I’m going to leave you alone’ to entire panel’s shock

Thierry Henry walked off the CBS Sports set during an interview segment ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

The Gunners host the 15-time European champions in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Emirates Stadium and Henry is present to watch the mouthwatering fixture.

He was interviewed in the build-up as part of CBS Sports’ coverage and joined by his former Arsenal and France teammate Robert Pires.

The two reminisced about the good times they had under Arsene Wenger, winning the Premier League without losing a game but then one infamous incident was brought up by presenter Anita Jones.

Henry rolled his eyes before the question had even been asked and then said “Wait I’m going to leave you alone because he [Pires] messed it up” before exiting off-camera.

The comment prompted gasps from Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards in the studio.

They were of course talking about Henry and Pires’ failed penalty attempt against Manchester City back in 2005 and the latter admitted he was responsible for the poor execution.

“It was my fault, it was my mistake yeah,” Pires said, before adding that the referee for the game was unaware of the rules.

Footage of the incident played and Henry did quickly return to confirm that the idea for the penalty routine was his but had to get it in that he “didn’t make the mistake”.

Pires had intended to pass the penalty to Henry but did not get the contact he wanted, leading to City getting a free-kick after defender Danny Mills gave him all sorts of abuse for what he perceived to be showboating.

The routine was perfected by Johan Cruyff and Jesper Olsen at Ajax and years later Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez showed how to do it properly for Barcelona.

Henry hails Pires as a “special player”

After Henry had stopped blaming Pires for getting the penalty wrong, he did shower his former teammate with praise for what he did for club and country.

“Joking aside, I need to say something about this man. We’ve been joking and laughing but this man was a special player. Playing alongside him at Arsenal and the national team, was brilliant.”

“There’s one thing that you guys know, in training if you are with Robert Pires you will never lose a game.

“The application that he had every time in training and the technique that he had, Robert could still play football now – only the field is a bit too big.”
