Arsenal and Manchester United are both likely to strengthen their ranks when the summer transfer window reopens.
Arsenal aren’t exactly having a bad season, but they’ve all-but fallen short in their hopes of winning the Premier League title for the first time since 2004.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have endured a difficult campaign, sitting 13th in the standings, though they’re still in the Europa League picture.
Rio Ferdinand has now named the four players he wants Man United to sign for next season, with three of those also wanted by Arsenal in the summer.
Arsenal targets Adam Wharton, Victor Osimhen and Matheus Cunha wanted by Rio Ferdinand at Manchester United
Ferdinand, speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, believes Man United need to sign Crystal Palace‘s Adam Wharton, Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen, Wolves‘ Matheus Cunha and Bayer Leverkusen‘s Jeremie Frimpong.
Arsenal have set their sights on Wharton, who has been a revelation for Palace since joining last year.
Meanwhile, Andrea Berta’s scouts think Osimhen would be a good fit for Arsenal, and Arsenal’s new sporting director is also keen on Cunha.
Ferdinand would like all three – plus Frimpong – at Man United, telling his podcast: “I agree with Gary Neville that they need five players, I think they need four or five players but they will be constrained by PSR.
“I want a centre midfielder to play alongside (Manuel) Ugarte, that player needs to be able to take the ball and transfer it through to Bruno and the strikers. And you know who I’d go for? Adam Wharton.”
Asked who he’d sign, Ferdinand said: “Osimhen. And I know, sorry Napoli and Galatasaray, if I’m Man United, Osimhen comes to Man United next year, I’m making it happen.
“Another one I’d go and buy is Cunha. He’s made it clear that he wants to leave so I’d go and get Cunha.”
Ferdinand then named Jeremie Frimpong as the fourth player he’d want at Man United, saying: “You know who else I’d go and get? Frimpong at right wing-back.”
Other players wanted by Arsenal
A new striker is a priority at Arsenal and TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey recently said Arsenal are taking a close look at a long list of strikers they have watched before.
The likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Ollie Watkins, Dusan Vlahovic, Jonathan David, Moises Kean, Mateo Retegui, Hugo Ekitike, Samu Aghehowa and Victor Boniface are all in Arsenal’s sights.
TBR Football can confirm that, during recent scouting checks, the report on Gyokeres has been especially impressive, as have those for Osimhen, David and Ekitike.
Arsenal are looking at numerous players in different positions this summer, such as Martin Zubimendi, Boubacar Kamara, Hugo Larsson and Kenan Yildiz.
