Pressure is mounting on Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy following a seventh consecutive Premier League defeat against Newcastle United.
The King Power defeat was actually the eighth consecutive home game Leicester failed to score in, with Eddie Howe’s side largely unphased on the night.
Following his brief stint as interim manager at Manchester United, the former PSV boss was brought in with hopes he would be able to keep Leicester safe from relegation.
Upon appointment, Van Nistelrooy was excited and proud as he looked ahead to the challenge, with Leicester sitting 16th when Steve Cooper was sacked after defeat to Chelsea.
Despite the positive start, he has since enjoyed little success with many fans adamant that there has been no improvement since Cooper’s departure in November.
Leicester fans say Ruud van Nistelrooy is the worst Premier League manager ever
Many believed Cooper deserved more time, including club legend Gary Lineker, who described the sacking as ‘harsh’.
Following the latest defeat, some have taken to Twitter to suggest the appointment is one of the most baffling decisions in years, as fingers are pointed to the Leicester City ownership.
Another fan said, ‘For a prolific PL Goal scorer…he seems unable to get a team scoring or even defending’.
‘Steve Cooper after 10 games 10 points not in the relegation zone. Ruud van Nistelrooy 7 points from 18 games Not saying Steve Cooper would kept Leicester City up but he would give them a fighting chance unlike just pathetically given up’, added another supporter.
Another fan said: ‘Ruud has no idea what to do. His tactics have done nothing because they’re awful. He looks like he was managing a Sunday League side.’
What is Leicester’s record under RVN?
Since taking over in the back end of November, the Dutchman has managed 20 fixtures, of which he has won just 3 with one coming in the FA Cup against Championship side QPR.

Next up for the Foxes is a tough away assignment at Brighton, as Van Nistelrooy’s quest for a vital victory continues.
