Having both fallen all but out of reach out the top six in the Championship table following defeats at the weekend, Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday will do battle at Ewood Park on Tuesday.

The two sides find themselves 12th and 13th respectively and tied on 52 points, with the hosts only better off on goal difference on the back of five straight defeats.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Sheffield Wednesday

Both left wounded by poor runs which have dashed their playoff hopes, we anticipate a close encounter on Tuesday at Ewood Park.

With the hosts yet to get going under their new manager and Sheffield Wednesday at least excelling away from home this term, we give a slight edge to the visitors.

Looking to land a major punch in the playoff fight, Bristol City will host West Bromwich Albion at Ashton Gate on Tuesday night in the Championship.

The Robins have propelled into the top six following a home success over Watford on the weekend, whereas the Baggies are beginning to falter in their quest for a place in the post-season picture.

We say: Bristol City 1-1 West Bromwich Albion

After taking control of their own destiny in the top-six race on the weekend, Bristol City will be desperate to avoid handing West Brom three points on Tuesday night.

That being said, we are expecting a cagey affair between the pair, two teams who would reluctantly shake hands on a share of the spoils at Ashton Gate.

In a clash that could impact the race for automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, Norwich City will host Sunderland on Tuesday at Carrow Road.

Norwich were beaten 2-1 by Plymouth Argyle on Saturday and are in 11th place with 52 points, while Sunderland are fourth with 75 points following their 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion on April 5.

We say: Norwich City 0-2 Sunderland

Sunderland have proven strong from a defensive perspective in the past weeks and they also boast a positive away record.

Norwich have struggled to achieve victories and they have suffered a concerning number of defeats in recent times, so perhaps the visitors will claim all three points.

Cardiff City continue their quest to achieve Championship survival when they travel to Deepdale on Tuesday to play Preston North End.

The hosts drew 1-1 with Stoke City on April 5 and the result left them in 14th place with 48 points, while Cardiff are third last in 22nd place with 41 points and occupy the league’s final relegation spot.

We say: Preston North End 1-1 Cardiff City

Cardiff’s match against Preston could be an invaluable opportunity to take advantage of a struggling opponent.

However, the hosts have rarely been beaten at home, so it would not be surprising if the two sides played out a tense stalemate.

Aiming to bounce back from a weekend defeat and strengthen their position in the top two of the Championship table, Sheffield United will welcome Millwall to Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

The hosts dropped to second spot on Saturday and only lead third-placed Leeds United by a single point, while the visitors kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a home victory.

We say: Sheffield United 1-0 Millwall

Sheffield United face a tough test in their bid to bounce back from a disappointing display and result at the weekend in their promotion bid, but we back their strong record at home and defensively to get them over the line against a Millwall side who head to Bramall Lane likely needing a victory in their playoff chase.

Stoke City will host relegation rivals Luton Town at the bet365 Stadium on Tuesday in their sixth-last Championship match of the season.

The home side are fifth last in 20th place with 43 points and are only two points and two places above the relegation zone, while Luton are in 23rd place with 39 points after they earned a point against Leeds United when they drew 1-1 on Saturday.

We say: Stoke City 1-1 Luton Town

It is difficult to separate the two sides given their performances have improved towards the end of the season.

With so much at stake for Stoke and Luton, the clubs are likely to take a cautious approach to Tuesday’s match, and that may lead to a game of few chances.

Hull City travel to Watford in the Championship on Tuesday evening in the latest match in their battle to avoid relegation to League One.

The visitors are currently 19th in the table and they are just three points clear of the drop zone with six games remaining.

We say: Watford 0-0 Hull City

Watford have been struggling in front of goal in recent weeks and Hull often feature in close matches.

With the Hornets having trouble finding the net, we think that this game may finish goalless – a result that would give Hull an important point in their bid for survival.

Looking to avoid back-to-back defeats, Derby County will welcome Premier League-chasing Burnley to Pride Park for a Championship battle on Tuesday night.

The Rams’ winning streak was halted by a saddening afternoon in South Wales on the weekend, whilst the Clarets’ top-tier charge continued in the East Midlands.

We say: Derby County 0-1 Burnley

Taking control of proceedings at the top of the table, Burnley will be determined to stay in first spot and extend their unbeaten run to 28 league contests.

Winning each of their last three Pride Park battles, Derby are capable at their East Midlands base but should struggle against the Clarets.

Two teams chasing promotion from the Championship will convene on Tuesday evening, as playoff hopefuls Middlesbrough welcome top-two contenders Leeds United to the Riverside Stadium.

While Boro’s burst of good form has recently taken them up the table, Leeds have just drawn three games on the spin, losing their grip on an automatic promotion place.

We say: Middlesbrough 2-1 Leeds United

Both home advantage and momentum are on Middlesbrough’s side heading into this crucial contest, so the hosts can claim another three points on Tuesday.

Once imperious, Leeds have lost some of their edge in recent weeks, and their in-form opponents can capitalise.
