Liverpool will be hoping its charge for the Premier League title doesn’t undergo any more slip-ups over the coming weeks before it embarks on a busy summer transfer window.

The Reds are still on course to be crowned champions, with a maximum of just 11 points needed for the title to be confirmed. Nevertheless, Arne Slot will have some work to do on his squad in the summer.

He’ll hope he at least has Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah still on board, even if Trent Alexander-Arnold is destined to head to Real Madrid. If the latest reports are to be believed, the duo could be joined by another of the Premier League’s biggest names.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds.

Alexander Isak (Newcastle)

Liverpool is confident of signing Alexander Isak this summer, according to Rousing the Kop. It’s claimed that the Newcastle striker has been made the Reds’ top target as they look for a new forward, with Darwin Nunez expected to leave.

There is a warning that getting Isak out of St James’ Park will be costly to Liverpool, but it’s suggested that the Reds believe they can land the Swedish international, who is viewed as the best option on the market.

Liverpool.com says: Signing Isak would be a huge coup for Liverpool, and there is no doubt that he would be a game-changer for the Reds – especially if they can keep Salah to play alongside him. It goes without saying he will not come cheaply, but Liverpool shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to sign a transformative signing if the chance is there.

Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund)

Jamie Gittens would like to leave Borussia Dortmund and take the next step in his career this summer, according to Sky Germany. A move to the Premier League looks to be the likely next destination for him, with several top clubs in the market for attacking options.

Liverpool has been linked with the 20-year-old, who hasn’t quite hit the heights he showed during the first half of the season. Nevertheless, Dortmund is unlikely to let him go cheaply.

Liverpool.com says: Gittens would be something of a risky signing, given he is relatively unproven still at the very highest level. Given his age, he would have plenty of time on his hand to perhaps serve as a back-up to the likes of Cody Gakpo and Salah, but the price tag will determine whether it’s a deal the Reds should pursue.
