Why didn’t Thomas Müller start for Bayern Munich?
Many fans were puzzled by Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany’s decision to keep Thomas Müller on the bench for the start of the team’s 2-1 loss to Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Maybe the outcome would have been different had Müller started, maybe not, but star striker Harry Kane appreciates what the 35-year-old brings to the table.
“He’s still in good shape, physically and mentally. Whenever he gets his minutes, he helps the team,” Kane told Abendzeitung journalist Kilian Kreitmair (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kane went on to tell Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg that he was happy to see Müller get the opportunity.
“I’m really pleased for him. I thought he had a great impact when he came on the pitch. Not just by getting the goal, but getting into dangerous areas almost like a second striker. Thomas is a legend of this club and will always be a legend. It’s sad to see him go. It’s a pleasure to play with him,” said Kane.
