Kyle Walker is undoubtedly a Man City legend.
The right-back has been with the Manchester club since joining from Tottenham in 2017 and has gone on to win every trophy possible at the Etihad Stadium, collecting six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, four EFL Cups, one Champions League, a Super Cup and a Club World Cup.
Pep Guardiola developed the Englishman into one of the best right-backs in Premier League history and up until this season, Gary Neville believes Walker could play for any team in the world.
At the end of the 2024/25 campaign, Walker’s journey at Man City will come to an end, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The defender is currently on loan at AC Milan and the Italian giants have a buy option clause in the right-back’s loan deal for the summer. Nevertheless, even if that is not activated, the England star will still leave Man City as he is not part of Guardiola’s 2025/26 plans.
With Walker set to begin a new chapter in his career, here are three players who could replace the right-back at Man City.
Jeremie Frimpong
Bayer Leverkusen will find it difficult to keep hold of Jeremie Frimpong this summer as the Dutch star is expected to leave the Bundesliga champions in search of a new challenge ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Man City have shown interest in Frimpong in the past as the 24-year-old came through the Manchester club’s academy, spending the years 2010 to 2019 with the current Premier League champions.
The Netherlands international has kicked on since and is regarded as one of the most exciting full-backs in the world.
Frimpong has the speed to replace Walker at Man City and although he is not as defensively strong, the Bayer Leverkusen star makes up for that going forward, which is why he would be a good fit in Guardiola’s squad.
Pedro Porro
Since he arrived in the Premier League in 2023, Pedro Porro has been described as ‘unbelievable’ by Ange Postecoglou as a result of the displays he has put in for Tottenham.
The Spanish star is one of the most exciting full-backs in the English top flight and should Man City look to replace Walker this summer, the 25-year-old will certainly be a player they look at.
The right-back is an incredible talent going forward, producing nine goals and 17 assists across 97 appearances for Tottenham.
With a contract in North London until 2028, Man City may find it hard to lure Porro away from Spurs and if they do, they are likely to have parted ways with a large chunk of cash.
Tino Livramento
Man City are also in the market for a left-back this summer and signing Newcastle’s Tino Livramento would help Guardiola address both issues as the 22-year-old can be used in both full-back roles as seen at St James’ Park this season.
Livramento has impressed in front of Guardiola before and the Spaniard will be aware of the talent the Englishman possesses ahead of the summer transfer window.
The full-back has been a key part of Newcastle’s success this season and the Magpies will not want to part ways with Livramento as he has featured in 37 matches for the Tyneside club throughout the current campaign.
The signing of Livramento would be an ambitious one from Man City but should they succeed, the Manchester club would have a top player on their books for many years.
