Alisson Becker may have some suitors for his signature this summer, although the Liverpool goalkeeper doesn’t look to be planning on a move away from Anfield anytime soon.
The Brazilian has been the Reds’ undisputed No.1 since his arrival at the club during the summer of 2018, and despite injury problems over the last couple of years seeing Caoimhin Kelleher enhance his own reputation, Alisson has underlined his status as one of the world’s best keepers with a number of outstanding performances – most notably against Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool though will soon face a decision in its goalkeeping department, with Giorgi Mamardashvili set to arrive this summer from Valencia. The Georgia international is expected to challenge for the No.1 spot at Anfield, having built up a promising reputation in recent years.
Mamardashvili’s arrival will likely see Kelleher move on, with the Republic of Ireland international having made his desire for regular playing time clear, while backup options Vitezslav Jaros and Harvey Davies are both out of contract in the summer. Whether Alisson will keep hold of his No.1 spot is not yet known.
The 32-year-old has been linked with a move away from Liverpool, having been the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia last summer. It’s not just the Gulf state that has been taking a look at him though.
According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Galatasaray has been discussing signing Alisson as it searches for a new goalkeeper, with Fernando Muslera’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
While the Super Lig leaders might be keen on Liverpool’s first-choice keeper, Alisson doesn’t appear to have any plans of leaving Anfield in the summer. The Brazilian discussed his future last summer, when he confirmed there was interest coming from the Middle East.
“Yes, there was interest,” said Alisson. “But I have a contract and I want to honor my contract, or make a new one.

“I am really happy here. My family is happy. I never got to the point where I was talking about wages. It was just interest. But when you hear about the numbers the other players are getting you are a little bit attracted. That’s normal.
“At the end of the day, you play football for love. It is the thing you like to do, but it is our profession and we want to use the years that we have to make the most of it. I think I am open to that personally – but not now. Now is not the time. I am really focused on the things we have here at Liverpool and while I still have my contract here, I will be focused here.”
Alisson’s contract at Liverpool runs until 2026, with the club also holding the option of an extra year. Therefore, if the goalkeeper plans on seeing out that deal, it would come down to the Reds if they choose to sell him – given how important he still is to the club, that seems highly unlikely.
