This is awesome…

In a bit of really cool news (via FCBayern.com), Bayern Munich will have its women’s team play their 2025/26 Bundesliga home opener at the Allianz Arena:

Same pitch, same dreams, same goals: For the first time, FC Bayern Women will contest the opener of the 2025/26 Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga season at the Allianz Arena. The DFB (German Football Association) will announce who captain Glodis Viggosdottir, Giulia Gwinn, Pernille Harder & Co. will face on Saturday, 6 September (kick-off 17:45 CEST), at the end of the current season. You can already reserve your tickets for all categories. After one Bundesliga and three Champions League matches to date, this will be the Munich side’s fifth appearance at the Allianz Arena. The current attendance record is 24,000 fans, set at a Champions League group stage match against Barcelona.

“The opener of the Women’s Bundesliga belongs on the big stage – and the Allianz Arena is exactly the right place for it. Alongside our women’s team and our fans, we want to celebrate a real football festival and send out a strong signal for women’s football. Games like this make an important contribution when it comes to promoting the development and visibility of women’s football,” said Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.

For FC Bayern Frauen director Bianca Rech, this is a great step for the club.

“We’re delighted to be hosting the opening match of the 2025/26 season at the Allianz Arena. We’ve set ourselves the goal of organising an impressive football festival for young and old and drawing as many FC Bayern and football fans as possible to the stadium. The date coming towards the end of the Bavarian school holidays will hopefully help us attract lots of children, families, football and sports clubs as well as fan clubs to the Allianz Arena. The entire club, together with all its partners and sponsors, will organise an unforgettable event for them that no-one will want to miss. And let’s not forget: Of course we want to start the season with a successful opener,” said Rech.
