Apparently Radio Müller’s communication skills aren’t universal.
After a decade at Tottenham, Harry Kane left his home country to join Bayern Munich on a nine-figure transfer fee. Harry Kane’s transition to Germany has been relatively smooth on the pitch, racking up 77 goals. Off the pitch, Kane had to spend six months living at Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Hotel while he waited for the rest of his family to officially move from England.
Kane has been taking German lessons to accelerate the learning curve but admittedly his family is better suited to adapt to Munich society. Recently, it was suggested to Kane that he should ask his teammates for help, but he was skeptical.
“I’ve heard [Thomas Müller’s] German [accent] is quite strong and quite hard to understand,” said Kane (via @iMiaSanMia). “Even for Germans. So maybe I’ll go someone a little easier to begin with, but who knows.”
Kane added, “I think as an Englishman, I’m quite spoilt. Obviously a lot of people talk English around the world and it kind of opens your eyes to learning a new language and how difficult it is for other people learning English etc. So yeah, I hope I get to a stage where I can at least hold a half-decent conversation with someone German, but I’ve still got a way to go.”
Kane is nearing the halfway point of his four-year contract with Bayern Munich. If he hasn’t picked up the language by now, it seems more likely that the only phrase left to learn will be “Auf Wiedersehen.”
Thomas Müller, Mr. Bayern Munich, might not be a part of the first team squad for the first time since 2009. Müller commands an international following; the love for him comes from all corners of the world and stretches beyond Bayern. In this episode, some BFW podcasters express their feelings about Müller’s possible departure. In this episode, Chuck, Michael, Jack, Muller_Era and Samrin speak about the Raumdeuter’s possible departure as well as what he means to them personally.
Note: Everyone expressed their views at different points and not everything that has come out about the situation now was known at the time the views were expressed.
