Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner led Eintracht Frankfurt to a Europa League triumph in 2022 and has since backed his former side ahead of their clash with Tottenham.
The Austrian has fond memories with Eintracht Frankfurt where his Europa League success was his first and only piece of silverware as manager so far after they defeated Rangers on penalties in Seville.
Frankfurt had to overcome English opponents during that campaign as well, defeating West Ham at the London Stadium, as they set their sights on a similar upset in North London.
Frankfurt tipped to cause Tottenham problems
Glasner has enjoyed success against Ange Postecoglou’s side this season in Crystal Palace’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Selhurst Park in October, and he thinks Frankfurt should back themselves in this tie.
Speaking to BILD he said: “If the third-place team in the Bundesliga plays against the 14th-placed team in the Premier League, why shouldn’t they have a chance? For me, it’s a match on equal terms,
“Tottenham have a really good team, but many players aren’t in top shape because they lack rhythm due to injuries. That can be an advantage.
“Eintracht shouldn’t underestimate their worth. They have great quality to win. Of course, Tottenham plays with great pressure, with tremendous pace, both in attack and defence.
“And they want a lot of possession, especially at home. But that creates space for counter attacks. Eintracht can exploit that, because that’s their strength.”
With Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven rested on Saturday, his presence in the backline will certainly be a huge boost for Postecoglou’s men, as his absence has undoubtedly been a factor to Tottenham’s defensive struggles this season.
Europa League or bust for Ange Postecoglou
The competition represents a chance at salvation for Tottenham and Postecoglou.
Having been knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa and having no chance at any other domestic silverware, this tie feels that little bit more significant for the under-pressure Spurs manager, with increasing uncertainty over his future.

If Tottenham are able to overcome the Frankfurt hurdle, they will be faced with either Bodø/Glimt or Lazio in a campaign that is likely to define Ange’s quest to rebuild Tottenham into challengers again.
