Bayern Munich must regroup for Der Klassiker…
Müller’s salary to be allocated to Wirtz pursuit? (@Plettigoal via @iMiaSanMia_GER)
With Thomas Müller being unceremoniously dumped by Bayern Munich last week, rumors are swirling that the Bavarians could be seeking to apply the €17 million they will save on Müller’s salary toward a pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz:
Bayern is now saving a lot of money on Thomas Müller’s salary. But it’s also a clear sign and a clear intention to continue to go all out for Florian Wirtz.
It remains to be seen what happens with Wirtz, but Uli Hoeneß’s sudden change of heart on Müller — plus Hoeneß’s close relationship with the Wirtz family — does seem at least a little bit curious.
Regardless, Bayern Munich would do well to get Wirtz if he decides to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer. Manchester City has also recently been linked to Wirtz as well.
Kovač wants conservative approach with Schlotterbeck (@BlackYellow)
Thank you! Finally, a coach with a reasonable approach to treating injuries — shockingly it is Borussia Dortmund’s Niko Kovač, who advised Nico Schlotterbeck to take his time in recovering from a meniscus tear:
️ Kovac on Schlotterbeck:
“Nico is crestfallen, but he knows that he has the full support of the club. I’ve told him that he should take his time – better one month more than one month too little. Then he’ll come back even better.”#BarcaBVB pic.twitter.com/31ZG8Yn29p

Gunners eyeing Martínez? (Fichajes via 90Min.com)
Arsenal FC could be eyeing up a move for Inter Milan attacker Lautaro Martínez:
Arsenal are ready to make a bid of €150m (£128.2m) to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.
Gittens unhappy with BVB (ESPN)
Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens seems almost certain to make a move this summer and is now rumored to be unhappy with his situation:
Jamie Gittens isn’t satisfied with his situation at Borussia Dortmund and has made the club aware that he wants to leave in the summer, according to Sky Sports Deutschland. The Bundesliga giants are willing to let the winger depart and will lower the €100 million transfer fee that was quoted in January. Manchester United and Liverpool have previously been linked with a move for the 20-year-old, while Bayern Munich are said to be monitoring the situation closely.
Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg also had information on the situation:
Jamie #Gittens wants to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer – @berger_pj. #BVB have been informed of his desire to move and internally expect him to leave.
FC Bayern still have Gittens on their list. He also has a market in England, and a return to the Premier League appeals to him.
Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Bayern Munich 1-2 Inter Milan (Bavarian Football Works)
Bayern Munich hosted Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena for a Champions League showdown that just about everyone knew would be tough.
Inter Milan proved to be extremely strong — strong enough to pull out a deflating 2-1 victory courtesy of some extremely inefficient play from Bayern Munich’s attack and bad decision-making from the coaching staff and backline.
Inter Milan was even good enough to hold off the bit of #MüllerMagic that Bayern Munich received in the second half. Let’s dive into this one on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:
- A look at the starting XI and our thoughts on two of the selections.
- A rundown of the scoring and substitutions. Bayern Munich had its chances in the first half, but could not make good on them.
- Not even #MüllerMagic could save Bayern Munich from themselves.
- Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match, including how the Bavarians can maintain focus against Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday, while their Champions League life hangs in the balance.

Röhl to be next Leipzig coach? (@Plettigoal)
Could former Bayern Munich assistant coach Danny Röhl replace interim coach (and former Bayern Munich assistant coach) Zsolt Lőw at RB Leipzig? Maybe:
EXCL | Danny Röhl is a new candidate for RB Leipzig! The 35-year-old Sheffield Wednesday coach has impressed Leipzig’s decision-makers with Jürgen Klopp.
@philipphinze24 Klopp, Marcel Schäfer and Oliver Mintzlaff greatly value Röhl’s footballing ideas.
But Röhl is not the only candidate for the RB job. Oliver Glasner and Roger Schmidt are also on Leipzig’s shortlist. But Glasner, considered one of the top options, would be significantly more expensive overall than Röhl.

Güler to Villa? (ESPN)
Aston Villa could be plotting a move for Real Madrid attacker Arda Güler:
A move for Real Madrid and Turkey international attacking midfielder Arda Güler is being considered by Aston Villa, according to TEAMtalk. The Premier League club are reported to hold “long-standing interest” in the 20-year-old, and they wouldn’t face competition from Liverpool despite the Reds being linked recently. Los Blancos would be open to keeping hold of Guler, though they are willing to let him decide whether he wants to stay after struggling for regular first-team minutes — with just seven league starts so far this season.
