Declan Rice has been amazing for Arsenal since he joined them from West Ham United.
The England international has been the talk of the town over the last two days after his heroics against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Rice scored two stunning free-kicks to help Arsenal pick up an emphatic 3-0 lead in the quarter-final ahead of the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Gunners legend Ian Wright has been in awe of Rice since that game.
Ian Wright agrees with David Moyes about Arsenal star Declan Rice
Arsenal smashed their transfer record to sign Rice from West Ham United in the summer of 2023.
The Gunners agreed to pay an initial £100 million for the midfielder, plus another £5 million in potential add-ons. It was their biggest expenditure on a player ever.
There were a few eyebrows raised at the time because it’s not every day that a club goes out and spends £100 million on any player, let alone someone who had mainly made a name for himself as a defensive midfielder.
However, since Rice started playing for Arsenal, nobody has said a negative word about the fee that was paid to sign him in 2023.
David Moyes even claimed recently that Arsenal still owe him £50 million because he still feels that Rice is worth £150 million and West Ham let him go for a cheaper fee.
Wright is now in complete agreement with the Scot.
He said on the Stick to Football podcast: “I remember David Moyes saying ‘we haven’t got enough for him’. I remember him saying he wanted £150 million for him.
“I know now we can all sit here and say David Moyes was right, but since Declan has been at Arsenal, from the time he has been there, he has made that fee look embarrassing.”
How much is Declan Rice worth on the transfer market in 2025?
Arsenal will have no complaints over paying £100 million for Rice.
Yes, it is a massive amount of money, but the England international is more than paying it back with his performances in the famous red and white.
You would think that Rice’s value has gone up since his move to Arsenal, but CIES Football Observatory’s estimated transfer values list disagrees.
Back in January 2025, CIES revealed that Rice’s transfer value stands at €108.3 million (£92.5m), which is less than what Arsenal paid to sign him.
However, we’re sure that Arsenal will demand twice the above figure if any club comes calling to sign Rice in the near future.
