Mbappé takes action: Set to sue PSG through all possible avenues over payment disputes

The legal battle between Mbappé and PSG is likely to be a long and complicated one. It remains to be seen whether Mbappé will be able to recover the unpaid wages that he claims he is owed.

Delphine Verheyden, Kylian Mbappé‘s lawyer, has given a press conference in Paris alongside her new team of civil and criminal law specialists to defend the Real Madrid striker’s rights over the non-payment of 55 million euros from his last contract with the Parisian club and for the damage that the entity’s refusal to respect what was signed is causing to the player and his family.

“We have waited a year to seek a peaceful solution for the player to be reimbursed the salary that belongs to him as every worker but it has not been so. We have chosen the player and we have been very discreet so far on the subject, but we must recognize that Kylian has not yet received the 55 million that he is owed. We have made the decision to go on the attack, that means that we build a work team with specialists in labor law, mediation, criminal and civil. It must be recognized that this issue goes beyond my specialty which is sports,” began by saying the player’s lawyer.

“The PSG has its own right and has not respected the law or sports justice in up to two instances,” added the lawyer, who has explained the four processes that have been opened against the PSG. Last April 8, they went to the Minister of Sports to take action against the Superior Commission of the Federation of last January 30.

He has also gone to the FFF to involve UEFA in the fulfillment of its obligations, which would leave according to the lawyers without participating in the Champions League next season for non-payment to his player last season. “Mbappé adores PSG but we have had no choice but to get here. Everyone knows that it is hard to lose a great player, but contracts must be respected by the employer.”

Mbappé’s legal team takes action

Mbappé has not yet gone to the French labor court nor has he filed a lawsuit for moral harassment and extortion, although they are two actions that have ensured will be carried out. “In the case of Kylian Mbappé, it is no more complicated than that. He joined PSG in the summer of 2017. He signed an employment contract, which was extended in the spring of 2022, for two seasons with an option. Along the way there were exchanges, discussions, pressures, the attic… we will return to all that. The contracts were signed. There were two. Have they been fulfilled? Yes. Until the end? Yes. Paid? No. What’s missing? 55 million euros,” he added.

“We are also followers of PSG, but they cannot tell us that we are doing this in a bad time of the club to hurt them. They are in the best moment, but the question here is how to make the law comply, because they are skipping it,” denounced one of his lawyers, who has announced that they have achieved a precautionary measure of an embargo of the accounts of PSG so that it cannot dispose of 55,416,669 euros.

“In this case, the club respects nothing: neither the employment contract, nor the law, nor the sentences of the French courts,” explained Thomas Clay. We have decided to take the club at its word and ask that the decisions be executed. That is why yesterday we asked the execution judge of the judicial court of Paris for authorization to seize the bank accounts of PSG. This morning we have cautiously seized 55 million euros from the bank accounts of PSG”.

“They threatened him, they left him without playing for the letter he sent that was only a formalization because the club already knew that he was not going to continue. He was not by his side when he made those statements,” added the lawyer, referring to the main argument that PSG holds in this litigation, that the player gave his word that he would not leave free and that he publicly stated that he would not harm the club.
