Arsenal and Chelsea might both end up making a big play for the same elite forward this summer.
Arsenal have recruited Andrea Berta as the club’s new sporting director to try and help broker some groundbreaking deals this summer.
But looking at Chelsea’s business under Todd Boelhy over the past couple of years, Arsenal’s London rivals haven’t had any trouble in that regard.
Chelsea have already secured the signings of Estevao, Kendry Paez, Dario Essugo and Geovany Quenda ahead of next season, four extremely talented youngsters.
And it seems as if the Blues won’t stop there when it comes to strengthening the attacking options available to Enzo Maresca next term.
Arsenal are worried about Chelsea’s interest in Nico Williams
Chelsea are interested in signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao this summer, a young left-winger who took last summer’s Euros by storm.
Of course, Arsenal have also held talks with Williams, a player who Mikel Arteta has been desperate to sign for some time.
And according to a new report by Give Me Sport, senior figures at Arsenal are now concerned about the prospect of Chelsea winning the race for Williams.
The 22-year-old has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 39 games this season, a right-footed winger who loves to beat his full-back.
In addition to Chelsea, Arsenal are also said to be concerned about Barcelona’s interest in Williams, who would seemingly be the Spaniard’s first choice should they make an approach.
But given the success of players like Raphinha this season, it’s widely thought that the Catalan club will be forced to focus their transfer efforts as well.
Benjamin Sesko is ready to leave RB Leipzig
Of course, Arsenal and Chelsea might even lock horns when it comes to a pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko over the next few months.
Both London clubs have been linked with the striker over the past year and both are still yet to find their next number nine.
Sesko is ready to leave Leipzig following the recent dismissal of their manager Marco Rose and the club’s poor season overall.
However, with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres also thought to be available this summer, he might be a more attractive ready-made solution.
And to that end, Arsenal are preparing a bid for Gyokeres according to reports in Portugal.
