Mohamed Salah’s journey at Liverpool will continue until 2027.
The Merseyside club have agreed new terms with the Egyptian superstar and Liverpool already announced Salah’s two-year contract on Friday morning.
This is a huge boost for Arne Slot as the winger has been essential to the Premier League leaders this season across the 45 games he has featured in, producing 32 goals and 22 assists.
However, there is still work to be done as the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have yet to be officially confirmed.
With a conclusion on those deals yet to be made public, Liverpool fans will be hoping one of them will be like a legendary contract announcement.
Bastian Schweinsteiger’s contract extension was legendary
Back in 2010, there was uncertainty surrounding the Bayern Munich future of Bastian Schweinsteiger as the German entered the final 18 months of his contract.
This led to rumours linking the midfielder to Real Madrid and Manchester United, reported Sky Sports, but Schweinsteiger would put them to bed in epic fashion.
After the 3-0 defeat of St Pauli, Schweinsteiger announced on a microphone to Bayern Munich fans at the Allianz Arena that he had pledged his long-term future to the German giants, signing a new deal until 2016.
“I have extended my contract and will stay at FC Bayern until 2016,” said Schweinsteiger. “Long live Bayern!”
This announcement sparked delight in the stands and with Alexander-Arnold set to join Real Madrid, Liverpool fans would go crazy at Anfield should the right-back or Van Dijk copy Schweinsteiger, although the Dutch star is expected to remain on Merseyside.
What’s the latest on Virgil van Dijk’s Liverpool contract
Liverpool fans have criticised Alexander-Arnold for his decision to join Real Madrid this summer and most will have already given up hope that the 26-year-old will remain at Anfield.
With Salah already committing to the Premier League leaders, fans of the Reds are waiting for the club to announce Van Dijk’s new deal after Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Friday morning that everything has been agreed between all parties involved.
According to James Pearce, Van Dijk’s new contract at Liverpool won’t be announced on Friday as the Reds continue to plan for future news.
Keeping both players is great business for the Merseyside club and if they can somehow turn Alexander-Arnold’s situation around, fans of the Reds will be over the moon heading into next season.
