Mikel Arteta has been at Arsenal for over five years now, and, in that time, he’s taken the Gunners a long way.

Indeed, Arsenal have gone from being pretenders to contenders under Arteta’s stewardship as they’ve progressed brilliantly and improved their squad.

However, there have been some discussions about Arteta’s future in recent years.

Arteta was linked to Barcelona at some point, while, this season, there have been some discussions about Arteta potentially being sacked after failing to win the Premier League once again.

Speaking on Off The Ball, Theo Walcott has, interestingly, named a manager who he believes will get the Arsenal job one day.

Theo Walcott says Cesc Fabregas will end up at Arsenal

Walcott discussed his time playing alongside Cesc Fabregas at Arsenal, before touching on his managerial career.

Walcott says he can see Fabregas going to Arsenal at some point, touting him as a potential successor to Mikel Arteta.

“Obviously Cesc Fabregas was one of his main players that he developed into the person to play and obviously he’s now having actually pretty doing pretty well for Como.

It’s actually in this moment in time obviously brought him up. So I can see him being Arsenal at some point. So yeah, Arsene Wenger, I learned a lot from him.

“I bumped into him actually at the Euros pretty recently as well. He’s not changed at all.”

Cesc Fabregas’ managerial record so far

Fabregas becoming the Arsenal manager one day is a move that makes a lot of sense.

Indeed, Fabregas is an Arsenal legend, he’s already coached in the academy, and he’s a disciple of Pep Guardiola having played under the Spaniard at Barcelona.

However, that said, Fabregas’ start to life in management hasn’t exactly been brilliant.

Fabregas is fighting something of an uphill battle in Italy as Como are hardly the biggest club in Serie A, but he isn’t exactly shining in Italy, as the stats show.

Games 23
Wins 8
Draws 9
Losses 15

Fabregas was one of the best players of his generation, and he’s a great footballing mind, but the results he’s had so far don’t exactly scream ‘future Arsenal manager’.

Fabregas has long been a backer of Mikel Arteta, but, who knows? Perhaps one day he could end up in the dugout at the Emirates.
