The former Chelsea and Man City man was in no doubt when making his choices.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has already revealed who he thinks were his three most technically gifted teammates.

Lampard, 46, is now head coach of Championship side Coventry City but is best known for his time playing for Chelsea.

During his playing career, the Londoner made 611 Premier League appearances – for West Ham, Chelsea and Man City – and registered 177 goals and 115 assists.

As a result of his consistently excellent performances for club and country, he is often compared to fellow former midfielders Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard – although he did not mention either of the players when naming the three most technically gifted players he played alongside.

The 46-year-old was lucky enough to play with an array of technically gifted players such as Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and even Andrea Pirlo – during the pair’s time together at MLS side New York City.

When speaking on Sky Sports in 2017, Lampard revealed how Eden Hazard was the most technically gifted player he played alongside but his two other picks may come as a surprise.

“He’s at the top of the tree, in terms of ability on the ball and awareness and skill,” Lampard said of Hazard.

“I think with Eden Hazard he has the edge. He can do anything at top speed …”

“He’s a world-class player and I want to see him kick on and do it regularly as he’s doing this year in years to come,” he explained. “I think he’ll be seen as one of the best players in the world.”

He went on to name his former West Ham teammate Paulo Di Canio and Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola.

“Di Canio was probably the first one I played with who had that ability. Gianfranco Zola, one of the best I played with,” Lampard continued.

“Great awareness, great skill.”

The Coventry boss then spoke about who the best out-and-out goalscorer he played with was.

“Didier Drogba I always rave about,” the former England star stated. “He was an all-round striker and gave you everything.

“But in terms of an out-and-out goalscorer, Aguero is the best I played with. He can be quiet for much of the game and then he’ll score the winning goal. He’s lethal around the box and sharp.”
