Liverpool star Ryan Gravenberch’s agent has caused a bit of a storm on social media.
The Dutch international has had a wonderful season under Arne Slot. He has been one of their best players and has played a big part in their Premier League title charge.
Liverpool don’t have plans to sign a new midfielder now because of how good Gravenberch has been over the last few months.
But, what his agent recently claimed in an interview has not gone down well among Liverpool fans.
What Ryan Gravenberch’s agent said to a Liverpool fan on Instagram
Liverpool are set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid once his contract expires at the end of this season.
That has been hard to take for many Reds fans, who saw the Englishman as their future captain.
The last thing Liverpool supporters need is another one of their players moving to the Santiago Bernabeu, and that is why many turned on Ryan Gravenberch’s agent after he said he wanted to see his client at Real Madrid.
Many fans had their say on social media after those comments surfaced. Some even commented on Jose Fortes’ Instagram posts about the same.
One Liverpool fan said on Instagram: “Liverpool is the biggest club in the world. If you don’t respect us, leave. Our club is bigger than you and your client. We love and support him, but this is disrespectful.”
Fortes replied: “I’m Spanish, it’s my dream club, not the dream club of Ryan. He is really, really happy, and if you ask Ryan, he will agree with you. No stress, keep calm!”
Liverpool’s stance on signing Martin Zubimendi after Ryan Gravenberch’s brilliant season
Before the start of this season, Liverpool wanted to sign Martin Zubimendi for their defensive midfield role.
The Spaniard is being courted by several top clubs across Europe, and the Reds came extremely close to landing him last summer.
But, Zubimendi rejected Liverpool and decided to stay at Real Sociedad instead. Slot has no interest in making another move to sign him now because of Gravenberch.
The Dutchman said in January, as per The Mirror: “If you’ve noticed it is not that much of one holding midfielder, it is a bit more two. And one of those two can be a bit more attacking and I think the player you mentioned [Zubimendi] could have fitted in one of those two roles and Ryan [Gravenberch] can fit in both roles like Curtis [Jones] can, [Alexis] Mac Allister can and Wataru [Endo] can.
“There is no point talking about Zubimendi anymore because he stayed with Real Sociedad and we’ve moved on and we are really happy with Ryan.”
