The day Liverpool fans have been waiting months for has finally arrived.
Indeed, Mohamed Salah has now officially signed a new contract at Liverpool, keeping him at the club for two more years.
Salah wants to break the Liverpool goalscoring record, and he may now have a shot at that after signing this new deal.
Salah’s contract talks were said to be going well months ago, and now, a deal has been thrashed out.
The Egyptian, will, of course, be taking home a hefty salary with this new deal, and a report from The Telegraph has now shared how much Salah stands to earn.
How much Mohamed Salah’s new contract is worth
According to The Telegraph, Mohamed Salah’s new Liverpool contract is worth up to £400,000-a-week depending on bonuses.
A number of Salah’s bonuses are performance-based, and he tends to activate those bonuses by scoring 20 goals a season – something he has done every single year for Liverpool so far.
Salah is in Ballon d’Or winning form this season, and while that £400,000-a-week salary is eye-watering, the Egyptian could well be worth every penny if he keeps up the level of form he has shown in recent months.
Liverpool’s highest earners
As you can imagine, at £400,000-a-week, Salah is the highest-earning player at Liverpool by some distance.
Indeed, the Reds’ wage structure doesn’t accommodate for many super high earners like Salah, but when you have a player who is this consistent and this talented, you have to pay the big bucks.
Liverpool’s highest earners | Salary per week |
1. Mohamed Salah | £400,000 |
2. Virgil van Dijk | £220,000 |
3. Trent Alexander-Arnold | £180,000 |
4. Andy Robertson | £160,000 |
5. Alexis Mac Allister/Alisson/Ryan Gravenberch/Federico Chiesa | £150,000 |
Salah’s new deal does set the bar for what other players at Liverpool could look to demand.
Virgil van Dijk is set for a new contract soon, so it will be interesting to see what he earns, while Ibrahima Konate has been in contract talks for a while.
This will also play a part in negotiations with potential summer signings, and with Alexander Isak on Liverpool’s radar, perhaps the Newcastle striker will be asking for a slightly bumped salary after seeing how much Salah is now earning.
£400,000-a-week is a lot of money, but if there’s any player it’s worth breaking your wage structure for, it’s Salah.
